I am seriously considering purchasing two female joeys in the next week or so. I have done my research... but there is one final question that needs an answer.

Exactly, how loud is the noise they make during the night? I plan on having my bedroom door closed, and they will be in the next room. Will I hear it? It is an apartment building with good walls... will the neighbours hear it?

Thank you for any comments. I keep reading that they make a loud noise, i just need to hear some experiences...

You're right, gliders do "bark". The loudness of the bark will depend on the size and level of maturity of the glider. Joeys have what I call a "baby" bark ... just learning to vocalize. An adult will have a much louder bark.
I have three gliders ... two adults with their "teenage" so to speak joey. We live in a split level house with the gliders housed downstairs in our den.
If we leave our bedroom door open at night, my husband will be awakened by their bark ... assuming he is not snoring himself. I on the other hand will sleep through their bark ... if I do happen to awaken, I am able to go back to sleep without any trouble. To be honest, I enjoy hearing their "bark".
You said that the walls in your apartment are good. If the gliders are placed on an inside wall, I don't foresee any problem. My gliders also do not bark every night. Some nights they are louder than others ... usually I can turn on a lamp and they will quieten down.
I hope this has been of some help to you.

I can hear a glider bark from several rooms away...howeevr I am senesitive to some sounds. Their bark is not really all that loud...but it is high picted and carries well. You may be able to sleep through it depending on how deep you sleep.

It also depens on your gliders. Some bark a lot and some will rarely bark. For a long time my glider neevr barked. Then we had a month or two were he barked all the time and I never sleept. Now hes gone back to rarely barking.

I doubt your neighbors will hear it though.

My glider, Tucker is in the bedroom across the hall from our bedroom. I keep the door to her bedroom closed and my bedroom door open. I have had her for 6 months and she has woken me up with her barking maybe 7-8 times total. It's really cute when she does it! It sounds like a tiny little puppy and you are laying there mostly asleep saying to yourself "what in the world is making that noise??" and then you realize...oh! it's the glider!! sometimes I go in there and turn on the lamp. She plays stupid with me whenever I do. She looks at me like "do you mind, Im doing my own thing in here?!" I have never seen her bark because when she hears me get up and coming in there...she gets quiet.

But in all honesty, it's never bothered my husband or I.

My kids have slept downstairs right next to the glider cage for the last three nights. They like it - the barking doesn't bother them a bit.

Hi, Viktor:

Sugar gliders are definitely not pets you'd want to keep in your bedroom unless you're a very sound sleeper. The yipping and the playing with toys (mine have bells) can keep you up all night. Your neighbors shouldn't have a problem with them, but you may be able to hear them through your door. When mine bark (rare) it sometimes wakes me up and they are separated from me by a door.
