I decided to buy a cage before I get the sugargliders. If anyone can help me find a suitable place, I would greatly appreciate it.

Does anyone have any comments on the cages offered at www.animalsexotique.com ? I was looking at the 2nd one: 14"x24"x36", 2 balconies, coated.

I am not so much concerned with the price (unless I am grossly overpaying), but is this big enough, and will it be big enough for two mature sugargliders?

Looking forward to any comments, or help in finding other places that offer SG cages.

This size seems to be the average size that most people own. If someone owns a bigger cage, it is usually because they have made it themselves. Here is another cage place that might help you compare prices: http://www.cageworks.com

have you tried petsmart and petco? I got a huge bird cage for my glider for $75, and it is working great. also, if you buy one off the internet, you really have to consider shipping costs, they can be enormous.

Emily-

Bird cages are not good for sugar gliders. The vertical bars are hard on their feet and they rust very easily (since a glider's urine has a high pH). The doors to bird cages also don't latch (unless you put a lock on them) and are easy for a glider to escape out of. You should really take a look at PVC-coated mesh cages.

Martin-

Animals Exotique provides free shipping on their cages and other products. Their suppliers are Martin's Cages (who is a little less expensive but charges on shipping). I'd recommend getting a larger cage in case you ever plan to own more than one glider. If you don't plan to own more than one the size you're looking at is okay, but extra space never hurts.

I have to agree with Jasmine on the cages. When I got my first glider the store was out of the size I wanted so I went one size larger and now am so glad I did. It is 20" x36" by 48". I have two gliders and they use every inch of it. Yes, it looked huge at first but now I know its just right or on the small side if anything. You may also want to look into making your own out of PVC coated wire. I paid about $140 already made but later looked into the cost and could have made it myself for about $80. Good luck!

I got my cage from quality cage...I believe there web site is www.qualitycage.com. They had put one of their sugar glider cages on ebay and I won it off that for about 17 dollars cheaper than what they sell it at. So if I was you I'd check the online auctions for a nice cage. Then go to their site.

cages are important. mine like the bigger sized ones. Ihave three sugargliders. The size you have thought of getting is best for just one. they need big cages to explore wink

I checked out most of the sites, after having gotten a quote from Klubertanz for a 2'x2'x4' vinyl coated cage with a metal pan. They are hands down the best price - shipping would vary depending on where you live. For me, the cage and the ring tool with the custom charge and shipping was less than $100. They are the winners in my book! Check them out.

Thanks in advance,

I ordered mine from martin's and shipping was less than $9. They have really nice cages if you don't want the hassle of building your own.

Check out Klubertanz cages here. Email: klubertanz@ticon.net (http:/hometown.aol.com/arba1/web/kk2.htm) Good luck. He is in Wisconsin and has a catalog. My quoted price included the custom fee of $7.50 - you can call him toll free and have him design the cage according to YOUR specs....I just though 2x2x4 was a very respectable size. Good luck. (found him because I remembered reading a post where someone built one of his cages for less that $50, but that person must have wanted different specs. I defintely wanted the vinyl coating and the metal pan as opposed to the plastic.) Good luck all, and keep us posted!

PS: The price I quoted include everthing including the tool to install the rings...I believe it was a little over $11. (He did have one for around $2 but it was difficult to use.) I did want to add that many years of experience have taught me to get the best, not the least expensive simply because if you don't, you'll probably end up getting it anyway after dealing with the inadequacy and frustration of trying to use the cheapy. So much from the peanut gallery.
