MY LITTLE GIRL IS ACTING VERY STRANGLY ALL OF A SUDDEN. SHE IS ACTING LIKE SHE IS VERY SCARED OF EVERYTHING EVEN HER ROOM MATE MY LITTLE BOY GLIDER. I WAS TOLD MY MALE WAS FIXED WHEN I GOT HIM ALONG TIME AGO IN THE SUMMER AND NOW SHE IS FATTER THAN HIM AND IM JUST WONDERING IF IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS COULD BE THE BEHAVIOR OF A PREGNANT GLIDER? SHE SEEMS TO WANT TO BE ALONE AWAY FROM EVERYTHING SO I PUT HER IN A SEPERATE CAGE FOR NOW. ANYONE OUT THERE EVER HEARD OF THIS OR KNOW WHAT IT IS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. SHE IS NOT SICK SHE STILL EATS AND IS VERY FAT BIGGER THAN THE MALE SO I DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER.:(

Angy,

is it possible that she is too fat and that's starting to bother her?

hey, what do you feed your babys?

If she is pregnant there will be one or two peanut sized lumps on the sides of her pouch opening. but thats only when she is a month pregnant. If you don't think she is that far yet. you can guess that she is, if she has been paying more attention to her pouch lately. and sometimes there will be a discoloration around the pouch area. is she fat all over or does she just have a big tummy?

Please do tell us your diet! A pregnant glider would not be bigger than your male...as eva said she would just have lumps.

Absolutely we need a little more information ... especially the diet.
FYI, typing in all caps makes it very difficult to read ... I know you were trying to sound like you were posting an urgent message and it did ... just makes if very difficult to read.
Anyway, please let us know about the diet.

My diet consists of taking many differnt kinds of fruits and veggies along with a special glider food made for them that I blend all together in a blender into a thick liquid mixture then I freeze it and they get one glider cube a night for them to split. I have never had any problems with it before and the breeder I got them from has used this diet for years. You know her belly is black in color where her pouch is and it does seem to look like her belly is big. Do pregnant gliders act wierd like that and freak out this started instatly last night as we were putting her back into the cage and she refused to want to go back in and was acting really strangly which is a behavior I have never seen before in either of them. Then we found her on the bottom of the cage hidding behind the whodent wheel which was odd and so we put her in a seperate cage because she was acting like she wanted to be alone and she didnt want gizmo the male to be near her either which is very odd. I just cant figure she would be fat and he would not for no reason. But like i said before he is supposed to be fixed. I took them to a vet a couple of times before nothing was wrong with them and she noticed he had no balls so who knows what is going on.

I think if the problem persists u should take her to a vet. Have u made any changes to anything besides the diet (new cage, ect.) If u did that may be the cause. Other than that, I only hope she feels better soon.

her actoins dont sound like a pregnant glider..especially the being afraid of everyting bit..is she fighting with her mate? if they are not fighting are you sure she should be alone? that may add to the stress, if she is used to being with someone else all the time. has anything else changed in her life?? maybe she is having trouble adjusting to some kind of change.

We put them back together tonight she is a bit calmer. She is doing something funny with her tail. She is wiggling it in a snake like motion very slowly up in the air like a cat does and she keeps putting her butt up in the air too. Do they go through a in heat stage like cats? Has anyone ever heard of the things that are happening to my little girl? She dont look sick. If you ask me she look pregnant if anything but who knows. I will find out soon enough if I see babys coming out. And no there has not been any changes with them except maybe their toys being rearranged lol. You know its funny too because gizmo the male knows something is going on with her he keeps sniffing her butt and like checking up on her every once in a while.

Your glider doesn't sound like she is pregnant. (I never heard of a glider with a black pouch!??!) Like everyone before me has said you would see a bulge IN the pouch either on one or both sides....If this is not what you see, she is not pregnant, and I'd get her to a vet. (My females don't like being handled much when carrying babies, BUT yours doesn't sound like that's what she's got.)

You must start slow. I wonder wether you have done the following, proven techniques. Maybe you had better repeat the process. This is a long article.

In the first few days let them see only your face so you can get familiar with them. You might try feeding them treats from your hand.
Then you can work on trying to play with them inside the cage. You can try to hold them by cupping your hands and letting them crawl into them. If they bite, put something safe and sweet on your fingers.
Wear a shirt for a day, and put it on top of the cage so they become familiar with your sent.
When you are able to play with them inside the cage, put them in a bonding pouch and carry them around inside the house. Don't take them outside yet.
You can also get them to sleep in your pocket by putting a pocket with a shirt inside the cage.
Play with them outside the cage. Let them glide around in a glider proof room.
On my website, http://sugargliderhouse.homestead.com/sugarglider.html
which is under construction there will be more info soon. Hope this helps.
P.S. Your gliders don't hate you, they are afraid of you.
P.S.S. If you have a breeding pair, could you let me know?
