Hello, I am a new glider Mom and I just took my female glider, Mala, to the vet for the first time. The vet weighed her and told me she was 51 grams (or just under 2oz). This is fine, but I'm a little confused because the breeder told me that she was 8 mos. old when I got her, which would make her just under 9 months old right now. The vet didn't think that she was underweight at all, so I'm wondering if it's normal that a female glider of this age weighs 2oz, or could the breeder have goofed about her age. I'm going to double check with him if he meant that's her age out of the pouch or not... I'm pretty sure he means her age from as soon as he noticed there were babies in the pouch; but I'm still CURIOUS!! I've never owned or interacted with gliders before so I'm not sure what's noral?!?!? wink

Hmmm...I'm relatively a newbie, too, but for what it's worth, my Kiki was 36 grams at approximately 13 weeks OOP. (At least according to the breeder). She's gotten bigger, but doesn't feel any heavier...LOL

I have a tiny girl and her name is Peak. Her mate is Taz and he is a somewhate large glider.

She only weights aroung 60 grams and is very healthy. Peak is a year old oop. but is a tiny glider. She is about the size of a six to eight week old oop. joey. She and Taz now have twins that are about 5 weeks oop. Because of her size I supplemented only one feeding in the evening and also gave her some of the marsipual milk too.
Babies are small but nice and plump. Considering her size she has made an excellent mother.

Sometimes small packages turn out to be the best ones of all.
