hey guys, i just got my glider today and so far its been very bad. i got them and they were so plyfull and friendly at the breeders house but when we got home they were understandably upset. so i let them be, but then there happened to be a mistake in my cage big enough for escape and one got out, i caught her in time and placed her back but she wanted nothing to do with me, crabbing everwher, im afraid this wasnt the best star that could have happene, any suggestions to help me get theses gliders to start liking me agin and so forth, anytrhing helps please, thx

To start off you better get a new better cage, pronto! One of your gliders geting out again can result injury or death! Second the gliders need a day or 2 to get used to its new home & owner. Be patient and read up on bonding tips. Offer treats so that they will begin to trust you. Hope this helps! raspberry

Bonding with new gliders can take some time, so please be patient with them. What I do with new glider is put them in a pouch and tuck them in my shirt or a shirt pocket and take them with me daily. (During the day when they are sleeping they are becoming accustomed to your scent.) Always offer a treat when you first put them in the pouch....If they are too nippy, leave the treat in the pouch at first - gradually making them take it from your fingers...I don't like being bitten any more than the next guy, so I sometimes hold biters in a towel and stroke and pet them. Good luck, but be patient.

The one tip that I think really helped my glider and I bond was giving him a stinky t-shirt. Just take a shirt you don't like that much and do something that's makes you sweaty like working out or just wear it a lot (the stinkier the better), then put your shirt in their cage so they get used to your scent. My glider really started trusting me after I had my shirt in there for a little while. And he liked it so much he started using it as his pouch!

Just one more thing, don't give up on your little guys! It took my glider a couple of months to really trust and accept me and it has really paid off in the long run. Patience and perseverance is the key. raspberry
