I'm very sorry to say that my baby joey did not make it through the day. He has been fighting all types of food all day and just tucking under his head when I tried, he wouldn't even lick at it like before. I found him in his little cozy bed at 6:00pm after I cleaned the house and did some Christmas decorating. I was in really high spirits until that moment as you can imagine. I am grieving. I knew the odds of survival, but I couldn't help but hope for him. HE DESERVED A CHANCE. His life was stolen away from him the moment she took him from momma. His time with me was just so I could enjoy him. He was beautiful. Where he is now, he is even more beautiful.
The breeder offered another glider that she will pull early and handfeed herself to me at a discounted price. She does not understand that what she did was wrong and will continue to do it. Again if you need infor on this breeder please call me. Please call only for this purpose (it's a cell). I WILL put her out of business. No more innocent animals will die b/c of her and no more hearts will be broke like mine.
Most of all THANK YOU for all the love, support, prayers, and words of encouragement that were sent OUR way over the last couple of days. Thank you.

Leslie
and
Joey smile

My heart is breaking for you...I am so very sorry for you. It was very obvious that you did all that anyone could do for Joey. (He was just much, much too young; so it was not your fault. A joey that young didn't have a chance in a million to survive.) I truly hope that you will report this breeder...This kind of cruelty on her part has to be stopped, and I'm sure you don't want anyone else to go thru what you have just experienced. God bless and keep you.

I am so very very sorry. You did all that you could have done and I think the decision you made to keep him with you rather than returning him to the breeder was absolutely the right one ... regardless of the outcome.
I too believe that he is now in a much better place gliding to his little heart's content. I also believe that one day he will personally thank you for all that you did for him.

I don't know if you will accept another glider from her (discounted or free!) but if you do INSIST that she let the mother raise it until it is at least 8 wks OOP... Have you asked her why she pulls joeys this early??? If she just does it for bonding reasons than I don't think she'd have a problem doing this.

I agree with Barb, you should get on the phone with the SPCA and the USDA and have her license revoked, and have her shut down. that is horrid and cruel what she did and you are suffering for it. THis is extremely sad, and what is even sadder to me is that it could have and should have been prevented. This is not the only breeder who does this either, I wonder if you are even the first she has done this to. In any case, I am sorry and deeply saddened. We were all hoping and praying, but Im sure its been a learning experience if not for all, for some of us. We are all here for you.

I'm so sorry for your loss, you did the best you could and I can bet that joey felt lots of love in its time with you. If I were not so far away I would call that breeder and tell her my feelings on this. I wish we could start a list or something of people who who want this breeder to be put out of the glider breeding business and send it to the USDA. I am just so saddened by this, that beautiful young joey did not have a chance because of this person. What people will do for money is just disgusting. Again my deepest sympathy on your loss, I can understand your pain.

I am so absolutely sorry to hear of your loss...so many of us we're pulling for both of you. As you said, he is now in a better place, but that does not make it hurt any less.

You have done a wonderful job...please remember that you could not have done any more to help save your baby!

My prayers are with you!

I'm so sorry, Leslie! My heart breaks to hear of such a kind heart losing a little one so soon. You tried everything you could. I doubt anyone would have had even as much sucess as you keeping the poor little guy alive. frown

Who was the breeder or what is the name of her business? Others should be warned about her.

Will the USDA pull her license for doing this? As several people have pointed out, this used to be a common practice and until someone can prove to them that it is animal cruelty I don't know if they will revoke her license for this. Obviously the next step in this case would be to set out to have this pracice classified as animal cruelty, and that could be hard... But worth working for!

Leslie,
I am so sorry for your loss. I admire you though, for all that you did in trying to help this little one. You are right when you say he is in a better place now, but I'm sure that he will never forget the effort you put forth in trying to save his precious life. Our prayers and thoughts are with you as you go through this time of grieving. Once again, I am sooo.... sorry.

Leslie, I am so sorry for your loss. It is such a sad thing when our little friends die. I have included "The Rainbow Bridge" below...it is so beautiful but I know it's sad. But he will be waiting for you I know it!
The Rainbow Bridge
author unknown
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadow, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!

The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again, you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Again I am so sorry for your loss.

Leslie, I haven't been online for a few days, so I had no idea this had happened. You know, I really thought (or hoped, I guess) that Joey would make it. frown I am so upset. I hope you're doing ok and that you save all your strength to put that breeder out of business! Why are people so ignorant? How could she do this? My prayers are w/ you. I know it must be so tough to lose a beautiful little baby like yours!

Leslie..you should write a letter to the editor of you local news paper and let everyone in your community know what kind of pet dealer is there in your town...more people read the letters to the editor then people think. You will reach alot of eyes and ears that way. God bless you and I hope you find happiness with a new baby joey soon!
Love ya
