One of those things happened today that was so horrible that it was funny. Ramsey was playing in his cage, when I noticed that he had gotten tangled in a rope sort of thing (made out of cotton t-shirt) I have hanging in his cage. I didn't realize who tangled he was until I saw him trying to get away and he couldn't. His tail was tied in a knot to the t-shirt!
I have no idea how it happened, but I swear that his tail was in a loop around the shirt and he could not for the life of him get away.
It was really weird, his tail was so stiffly curled tht I had to pry it open. At first I was worried that he had broken or hurt is tail and that is why it was so stiff. But I felt it after I got him untangled and it was still stiff but clearly not broken.
I put him back in the cage, but didn't fasten it very well I guess. A few minutes later I felt something crawling up my leg and it was Ramsey! His tail was soft, not stiff and totally normal. Is it possible that it got so stiff because he got scared when he was tangeled? Anyone heard of anything like this before?

I am fairly certain that his tail was "stiff" due to the trauma of getting it caught in the shirt.
Although they do not have a prehensil tail, they are able to curl it as I'm sure you have noticed.
I have seen mine carry small light weight objects curled in their tail.
Glad to hear everything worked out fine, but I think I would remove the shirt/rope if you haven't already.

Thanks Karen, I did remove that shirt thingee from the cage immediately. It was so scary, that when he escaped from the cage a minute later and was acting like his old self, I was so relieved that it was funny.
I am also shocked by how much trouble these guys can get into! It seems that it is always my boys...
