Can someone explain why no balconies in a s.g cage? Iam trying to find a cage for mine now on the net and cant decide on the cages. What about a wooden wheel in the cage? Thanks for all your help! Anna

all my cages have balconies in them. four i bought, and one i made. one cage i have is a tall birdcage, and i went to petco and bought corner ledges to put in it. my cages also have ramp from level to level. they do all have plenty of room to jump from level to level and stretch out those gliding membranes. i have a wodent wheel in every cage but one. that cage the door is not big enough for ir to fit through. when i ordered the next two i had them custom make a door on the top of the cage for easeir access.

You mentioned a wooden wheel ... I personally think that wodent wheels are the best you can get.
They are specially made so they are glider safe and can be placed in the top rack of the dishwasher for cleaning.
I have two and my "family" love them. They would really be happy if I could figure out a way to have a room full of nothing but wodent wheels and climbing ropes raspberry

I don't see any reason not to have one, as long as it's PVC covered wire. It would make it more difficult to clean since they have no preference where they pee, though. In larger cages (4'+ high), balconies are frequently used for extra stability.

Wodent Wheels ROCK! I used a wire rat wheel until I found this board, and switched over to a Wodent Wheel during X-mas. They are as cheap as a large rat wheel, safe to use, quieter, and easier to clean....plus they don't rust. My guys had been using the rat wheel for years, but only took a day before they know what to do with the Wodent Wheel. We give it an A+++! smile

Taz has 2 balconies in his cage... And I hung Taz's Wodent Wheel upside down on the ceiling... I found he likes it better up there..
