I want to try giving my kids crickets. but I don't want the things escaping the cage and jumping around my apt. how do you feed them to the gliders, without them getting out of the cage and all over your house?

One way is to feed them dead, then you never have to worry about that. However not all gliders will eat them dead.

Another way is to hand it to the glider...straight from your hand to their mouth. For soem this can be really hard to do. Some people break off a leg before doing this so they can't get away....this seems sort of crule to me..but it is still a method.

Another way is the bathrub. Put a cricket or two in the bathrub. They can'y get out. Then bring the glider(s) in the bathroom...let them jump in and catch them.

Another way is to buy a deep heavey bowl. A lot of cat feeding dishes are like this. If it is deep the crickets can't get out, and if its heavey the gliders can't knowck it over. You can put this in their cage.

The final way i have heard of is keeping the crikets in an aquraium and then letting the gliders grab them out.

There are probably other ways but thats the only ways I can think of right now.

My favorite method is "One at a time". Just hand them to the glider. As for pulling off the back legs so they can't jump, mine wouldn't like this method frown because they enjoy eating the legs just like drumsticks smile
I have a friend who puts hers in the freezer long enough to keep them from moving. By the time they have thawed, there isn't enough left to jump raspberry
Now I have also purchased a cricket carrier from Petsmart which the crickets cannot escape from. By placing a large rock or something heavy in the bottom, the gliders cannot turn it over but can retrieve one at their leisure wink
Hope all the suggestions thus far have helped.

I grab them by one of the back leg's & hand them to my Kid's ( but be careful - after you see the way thay act over them you will see what I mean about be careful) thay go crazy over them & they bite hard for them & sometimes grab your finger & think your finger is the cricket (mine have bithard enough to draw blood)hope it helped!

I buy them by the thousand, then when they arrive, I just place them in the freezer and in about 3 to 4 hours, you have frozen crickets, mine all love them that way.

i get them at petsmart, leave them in a cricket crral for a couple of days with some hi- calcium cricket food, and dump the whole lot in a plastic baggie. right into the freezer they go. then i only have to shake out a few at a time. they don't go anywhere after that.

I buy mine weekly and keep them in a large jar with the usual cricket food and slice of potato. When its feeding time I simply show my gliders the jar, they come over, I tilt the jar toward them, they reach in and grab their own! Its really cute, they hold onto the lip of the jar with their hind legs and just lean right in. Sometimes they do the 2-fisted thing, its funny to see them trying to back up with 2 full hands!

I actually like the crickets song, so having live crickets around is nice for me.
Mine won't eat them if they aren't hoppin!
