I have had my sugerglider for about a year now. We have bonded very well and he is healthy and seems happy, but I have read in several places that it is bad to only have one and that they can even die of loneliness. I was thinking about getting another but wasn't sure if I should. I would really appreciate any advice.

One or two has been the topic of many discussions with just as many opinons, however, I think that they majority agree that if your glider is healthy and happy then there is no reason to get another one.
My first glider was a "lone ranger" and he couldn't have been happier. He went absolutely everywhere with me (except church). If you have the time he requires to spend with him, then I see no reason to get another one.
As for dying of loneliness, this probably only occurs after a glider loses a mate which is not replaced.
It sounds from your post as though he has always been an "only glider" so he doesn't even know any different. He's probably tickled that he doesn't have to share you, which of course he would should you get another one. Bonding with the second one would definitely take away from his "mommy" time ;)

my glider on the other hand was very lonely frown , and he needed a friend so i went out and got a pretty little babygirl for him to play with. but if your glider is happy than i see no point in getting another glider. raspberry but if i had the money i would buy alot more gliders.

Hi, we just got our glider today, she is so cute and cuddly. Is it strange that she isnt eating?Does she need a day or so to adjust to her new surrounding? How do we go about bonding with her, when she is in her cage she runs and jumps from side to side and it is hard to catch her.. and when we do she keeps trying to get away. any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Since this is our first glider I am unsure as to when to feed her. The breeder told us to give her a mixture of cat food and oatmeal and raisins, and then to give her fresh fruits and veggies. My question is do we leave this food down all the time or do we schedule a time to feed her? He also said to give her corn, which i did , i put 1/2 ear in her cage. Sure do appreciate all the help we can get. Thanks a bunch, smile

This is not a good glider diet. Gliders need 33% protien in their diet. They also need a calcium phosphorus ratio of 2:1

Please use a diet reaserched, balanced, and proven for gliders.

Debbie,
Perhaps you should repost under your own name/topic so it does not get "lost" and you will receive the responses you are looking for smile
