frown I just got my first sugar glider for a gift the other day. I have a lot of questions but two really important ones. The first one is that this female keeps biting me. Its just not a little nibble either, she's making me bleed. I spend a lot of time with her. She rides around in my collar a lot and doesn't have a problem with it. Sometimes when she's sleeping, I'll pick her up to put her in my shirt pocket and she'll growl at me. The other question is about a diet. I've looked at several websites and I still haven't got a good idea on good food to feed her. Every site tells me something different or everything they say goes right over my head. The pet store mentioned several things including penut butter. I'm not real sure about that one but I tried it and she loves it. But I want to give her something healthy. Please help. I'm running out of fingers and ideas.

this is what I feed my gliders and I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN this diet thing can be a pain. So I will tell you what I feed mine and you can try that & if someone thinks my diet will not work they can help both of us, I have been reading everything on diet and I believe this is balanced,
I use bourbons modified leadbeaters you may have seen this posted I am not sure of the web site and dont know how to post so you can just click and you are there so maybe someone will post it for you.
give your glider one tblspn a night (hopefully your glider will like it mine love it)
Also, in a seperate bowl give them a variety of fruits and veggies, some are better than others you will have to research that, the sugar glider book (McPhersons) has the break down of what they get (nutrient wise) from each fruit and veggie.
then in the morning I give them each 4-5 crickets, (I give these in the morning because they love them and won't eat there other food if I give them to them at night)
give your glider time as for the bitting .....the key word is PATIENCE!!!try putting babyfood or honey on your finger
hope I helped some...

I agree with all the above with one exception.. the honey should not be offered as a licky treat..it is too strong by itself, in the leadbeaters it is dispersed, therefore not as strong . as an alternative you can use, babyfood veggies (no garlic or onion ingredients), apples with chicken baby food, applesauce, yoguart, or the leadbeaters it self. anything that they have to lick off.. (except honey). also on this base all you do is cut and paste the url or just type it in, as long as it starts with the http:// it will turn it into a clickable link.. here is the addy for the leadbeaters though

okay Brian, some questions.. when does she bite you?
1. when you are offering her the licky treats, does she lick it then bite you?
2. when you go to put her back?
when you try to move her from your collar?
3. when she is in her cage?
4. when she is in her pouch and you reach in for her?
5. when you are trying to make her do things she doesn't want to do? like maybe hold her, pet her catch her, etc..
