I don't know how long it's supposed to take, but it's been 4 days since we got our baby. He is crabbing all the time, especially at his food. He bites when we pet him and he isn't very friendly. We've carried him in a pouch for a couple hours a day and talk to him, and handle him, but he doesn't like to be touched or looked at. How long do they usually take to get friendlier?

Bonding is a never ending thing. For some it is instantaneous for others it takes years. Give your baby more time the reason why he crabs is because he is scared. Wear him all day when he is sleeping and if you can't put a piece of fabric in his cage with your scent on it so he can get used to your scent. But remember it will take awhile before he will get used to you. Just be patient and it will happen and it will be worth all the bites and crabbing in the world.

It can take a lot longer than 4 days..it can take many months or even years. It depends a lot on the gliders age and its previous experience with people. Was it handled everyday by a good breeder or was it sitting all alone in a petstore for months with no handling? These things really do make a difference in how much the glider will trust you. You may be moving to fast for the glider.
