I have two female gliders. My wife is warming up to them, but the smell is getting to be more than she will put up with.

I use a mix of hi-grade cat litter and recycled/shredded paper for litter. This worked well until I introduced the new glider, but now both of them are marking everything. Does anyone know of a better product for controlling odor?

Thanks,

Ben

Hello Ben,
Where do you have your gliders??? If it is in a small room, then consider an air filter machine, that has a charcoal filter in it.....Also, I use Oxy-clean to spray the bottom, and then I wipe it down with a damp cloth.....IT has worked well for me, I also have two females in one cage, and a male in another cage.....Also put washable things in for them to sleep in, like a cloth pouch, and wash it when it smells.....

Try using carefresh instead of the cat litter it does a much better job of absorbing the odors.

What is your cage made of? The cage can retain odors if made from galavanized wire or wood.

It could also be their diet. What do yoy feed?

Unfortunately, one of the cages is raw wood and wire mesh (it was built before I knew better). The other is Plexiglas.

Their diet is three part: one night a mix of fruit and vegetables, the next Purina Monkey Chow, the last Nutraglider (made with either apple sauce or yogurt).

Well that cage is just going to stink...they really hold in odor. I would not use a plexiglass cage...gliders love to climb and can not climb glass. Gliders can also hurt themselves on glass if they jimp into it, as they can not ctahc the side.

I would be worried about your diet. That is not really a glider diet...but parts of a diet. Gliders need a balnaced diet of 33% protien. The night you feed nothing but fruits and veggies they get little to no protien!

Please use a balanced glider diet, this will help:

This is the diet I use:
