Hey guys!
Well I just got back from a week long trip.. One of my friends kept my gliders i have 3 one 2 year old male and two month old babies.. one male one female.. btw their momma never did show up.. anyways i sat down to ply with them last night and i noticed that my little girl looked awfully funny.. since she was born she hasn't had hair on her tail it's not hairless but it seems as though it was chewed off or something.. anyways.. i picked her up and majority of her hair is gone.. her back end looks scabbed over but it's not a scab.. what it is i have no idea but her hair is gone. My first thought was could she have leukemia? but she seems to be a perfectly healthy glider.. she plays and eats very well.. and all the normal stuff.. however she is now hairless what is the cause of this i watched her and her little brother and he didn't seem to bite on her or anything but she didn't bite on herself either.. so i am just thinking what on earth???? The little boy doesn't seem to be grooming himself like most gliders do.. his tail is kind of ratty i try to brush it out with a baby brush but he doesn't like that.. he yells at me.. and the little girl doesn't have any hair to groom.. their mom left them when they were about 3-4 weeks out of the pouch and i don't think she finished teaching them how to properly groom themselves.. they try but to no real avail.. any suggestions or an answer to why my little girls hair is missing? Thanks! -ashley

Is the older male housed with the female? How old is the young male? Have you gone to a vet? These would help.

I think an appointment should be set up with your vet.

Have you read the true story's page at http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugarglider/index.html
If not do so.

If the older male is with the female he could be raping her.

Another thought is stress? Most hair loss cases lead to this.

How is your diet? There is a possibility your glider is suffering from a diet problem, a vitamin deficiency.

Because I am not a vet, nor is your glider in front of me, or mine to tell I still would get that appointment set up ASAP.
