Uh..hi. I am checking into gliders. I have found this sight to be very helpful. But my question is do gliders pee or poop on you every time you pick them up? Also do they do the same thing on the floor when you let them out?

thanks Alot

My female gliders almost never pee or poop om me, but one of my males does every time I pick him up. It's almost like I am a human litter box. smile If you think about it, it kinda makes sense. One of the first things most people do when they wake up is use the bathroom. Why would anuimals be any different?

yes they do pee and poop on you, and they choose the time and place to do it.. If it is a problem for you, then a glider may not be for you, as there is no way to prevent it from happening

I look at it as just their way of saying they like you and feel comfortable enough to "honor" you raspberry
Like Bourbon said, it's really not that big a deal. Their poop is about like a hamsters.
I always wait until they have been up for 15-20 minutes before getting them out of their cage. This way, they have already peed ... however, the poop will always come when you get them out wink

If you empty them out of their cloth pouch in the cage and let them go first when they first wake up (this could take up to three minutes) then you are much less likely to have an accident.

I make my male go to the bathroom before he gets out of the cage however...he contacntly goes to the bathroom on me..its his way of marking me. I get peed and pooped on constantly...i mean several times a night...so you may get one that doesnt do it that much but you will have it happen to you frquently.

What do you mean what not to feed? You mean dangerous foods? Choclate, cheesse, onions, garlic, honey by itself, yougurt too often...no point in feeding lettuce, I have been reading some stuff on peanuts and may be adding them to the list also.

What are you currently feeding as a diet?

I think mine purposely holds it until I pick him up. I can see him doing "the potty dance." Even if he's roaming and exploring, he'll all the sudden run back to me, climb on my hand or arm, and leave me a present, and then some. smile I tend to think it's also his sense of humor. Getting back at me for putting him in his cage in the first place. Rocky loves being with me, day or night. He'd rather sleep in my shirt than any where else. So, ya just kinda gotta grin and bear it. Look on the bright side, at least when they go, it's not big puddles and...well, you know. smile
