Well if you work you could take your glider in a carrion glider pouch (which looks like a purse in a way) You could also put your glider on your shoulder when doing house work, but not for to long because gliders are nocturnal. There up all night. So when you go to bed Its only morning for your glider and hes ready to play. Some people have trained their gliders to get up at 8:30 or 9 pm. If you would like to train your glider to do that then look at all the posts from September 16 and find the post "sleeping habits" and look under the reply from Mary. That will help a lot!!
Well hope I helped.

Also, if you don't have enough time in the evening to play as long as you want, get up early in AM. I get up a 4-5AM to play and feed crickets. Some of grannys have to do that (not you B) They don't go to sleep til aprox. 7:30 AM

I went to the same web site and when it came up sugar glider I came here. I had no idea what a sugar glider was. I've been visiting this (and other) web sites, every day since. As far as I can tell this is the low down.

1) A lot of web sites (and owners) say that you can train your gliders to get up earlier than is normal for them. I think that it probably depends on the glider, as with most pets.

2) You really would do better to buy two to keep them company, but unless you're looking to breed you'll either have to get a nuetered male or a same sex pair.

3) From what I can tell, their cage takes up a lot of space. Most people say nothing less than 2ft X 3ft, but from what I've heard that may not even be enough depending on the glider (or pair).

4) I've been pricing in my area for a while now and they really don't come anywhere close to $10 a month so don't be fooled.

5) Some make a lot of noise, some don't, so keep that in mind.

6) Depending on where you live it can be difficult to find a vet, so you'll want to look around before you buy. If you're going to have the glider for 11+ years you should expect to have to go to the vet.

7) MOST IMPORTANT!!!! Your state may have banned them, or may have restictions on buying and breeding. Make sure you know about this before buying!

As for me, I decided that I definately want a glider, but I'm waiting a bit to see how things go first. I can't give you as much info as an owner can, but I thought I may be able to get you started since we're in the same boat.

The links on this site are invaluable! Make sure you check them out! smile

You can wake them up early, however only to a certain point. They are nocturnal and should not be woken up durring the day for playtime. Also training them is very hard to do and can take months and months. Durring those months you must be able to play with them for at least 2 hrs a night (or early morning). Most gliders will not wake up on their own before 10pm at the earliest normally 12. Durring those months of trainign you will have to stay up latter and play with them. So if someone must go to bed at 10 every night, then they will not be able to play with a glider unless they buy one that has already been trained to wake up then. There are a lot more gliders that have not been trained to wake up early, than there is trained ones. Some people have tried and it didn't work, some people chosse to play early in the morning, and some people don't mind playing lare at night. So you should not buy a glider believeing that you can train them yo get up ay a certain time, because it is too hard to say if you can or not. They can be stubborn animals.

I don't know all about whether you can or cannot train your glider to wake up at a certain time. We recently purchase a glider, who the poor guy was at a pet store with lights on all day and most of the night, so I think he was confused, however, we get him out in the a/m/ for bonding, and when I get home from work around 5:00 I get him out for bonding , and then around 8:30 or9:00 for playtime...We did not make a mistake, he is great..........Read...Read...Read, and then DO!
