Hi,

I will be picking up my baby glider on Friday. I have her cage all put together, but I need a little help on what to put inside it. It has 2 balconies. One on the top and one on the bottom. Do I crowd up the cage with sticks? Or do I go buy the hanging ropes like I see for birds? I want to get her a safe wheel also, But where do I put that? And where is a good spot to put the cage pouch? Do I put the food dishes on the top or bottom? Which is the best food to get? there is so many brands. (I mean aside from the fresh foods.) Any advice would be great, Thanks.
Linda

WOW...that's alot of questions! Have you done alot of research?

Start with Bourbon's website which will give you alot of info on feeding, bonding, etc.

As for her pouch and dishes, put these as high up in the cage as you can. Gliders love to be near the top of the cage, and this is where they should be most comfortable.

As for the wodent wheel, you can either put that on the bottom of the cage or attach it to the side. It really depends on how big your cage is and how much room you have.

Toys-they actually like really simple things-bells, wooden ladders, tree branches (but please make sure you know they are safe), the wheel, by far the favorite, and a small house of some kind to play hide and seek. Mine is made of rubber for gerbils and hamsters, but any kind will do. Remember that wood will retain odors.

I have also hung a bungee cord across the cage and she loves to balance across it and hang and play. Just be careful about the hooks.

Hope this helps a little!

wooden bird perches work well..i got the ones that look natural and they screw onto the side of the cage. I also baught fake pathos at a craft store and wound it around the perches and bars..thay also seem to like that...just make sure the fake plants are UNSCENTED and wash them before you put them in there with soap and water smile

I would not use a wooden bird perch. There was a story on Glider Central on a glider that died cause it ate the perch and they found it later. This person had had the perch for a long time before the glider got to it.

As for your feeding question..there are lots of brands of glider fod...and most of them are no good ar all for gliders.

If you are on a good diet plan you won't buy any of those comercial glider food.

Here is a list of some good diet plans:

This is the diet that a lot of us here use:
