Just wanted to throw this little caution out here for new owners. I'm a new owner myself...but I learned early. I had just got off the internet checking out all the neat glider info and Petrie (my glider) was having a great time running around. Amond the neat info I found was....Keep toilet lids down...well, I was laying in bed being amused by my sweety (watching him make laps around my body) and I was kinda dosing off...Then I looked over my shoulder and saw my bathroom door open and my toilet lid open....." Aggghhh! I'll get in a second...I have to get up and set my alarm anyway" I rolled back over and the next thing I heard was....clud clud....SPLASH!!

I ran to my bathroom and there was Petrie taking a swim...not one that he was enjoying...PLUS>>>>> I had the wonderful blue stuff in my toilet---you know with bleach and all....so I freaked....I grabbed my glider...Loved on him for half a second and stuck him under some luke warm water...washed him of to the best of my ability and put him in his cage.

He sat there with a horrified look on his face and liked himself over and over and over...so i stuck my hand in there and helped him...He welcomed my help. After that night he never crabbed at me again...It was kinda of like a bonding experience...but that's not the moral of the story!!!

THE MORAL IS: KEEP TOILET LIDS DOWN AND BATHROOM DOORS CLOSED....

My poor little glider is fine now but if I had gone to sleep or just not heard him splashing around, he was unable to get out of the toilet by himself. Please take heed. smile

Just wanted to offer my little story and hopefully save a glider a swim.

This is a forum for discussion. Placements of messages wanting sugar gliders or selling sugar gliders will be deleted. You were right on in your caution, Stephy. I just mentioned that in my advice to a new glider owner earlier. It is always at the top of the NO NO list. Good luck and have fun with your glider!
