my male clyde is almost a yr old and I have only had him for 2wks, My females love meal worms but clyde will not eat them, I bought some crickets for them and Thelma and Lousie both LOVE THEM of course, and Clyde wants nothing to do with them. His former diet was cottage cheese, yogart, and peanuts. He is very active and seems happy hear I thought that maybe he just does not like eating from my hand but I put him in a seperate cage with the cricket and he did not touch it also he will take peanuts from my hand. What do I do for protien for him? I dont want him to get fat from peanuts.

Have you tried ripping the mealies head off? Sometimes the just don't know how to get inside for the "good stuff". The other way is to coat the bug in yogurt or other licky foods. Good luck smile

Do your gliders eat leadbeaters? If they eat Bourbons version, then they are getting some protien. Also coating them is a very good idea until he gets used to them.

I would cut out the peanuts altogether for right now. Getting him on a proper diet will be difficult if he keeps getting the foods he is used to. He will hold out for his old food. Have you tried monkey biscuits? Those are a great source of protein. My glider will eat them plain but other people have to soak them in apple juice sometimes to entice them to try it out. I would definately start up leadbeaters, though. Have you tried freeze dried crickets? Maybe he is afraid of them because they move. Maybe you could throw some crickets in the freezer and give them to him that way. Tofu has some protein in it also. I have to put the tofu in a big mixing bowl and mix in some honey for them to try it though. Tofu is also an excellant source of calcium and it is pretty cheap. I get my tofu for $.88 .
Those are just some ideas. Let us know how things are working out.

yes they eat leadbeaters, and I have cut out the peanuts, yogart and cottage cheese. He gets what my girls get. Frozen crickets didnt work and neither did tearing off the head of the meal worms..... thanks for all the advice.. I will keep trying..
