Has anyone here used this product? It is a sugar glider dry food made by Outback pets, a company in Texas. It has acacia gum in it and I have e-mailed the store for the ingredients and nutritional chart. It has 30% protein and says on the web site that it is: nutritionally sound, readily accepted by sugar gliders, easy to dispense, minimal waste
and economical. I will post the ingredients as soon as they respond to my e-mail.

I have also been trying to get more info about this product.
The Nutri-Glider ad in Critters USA - 2001 Annual magazine states -
"Acacia gum is now a main ingredient of Nutri-Glider along with four types of microbes for healthy digestion and 24 vitamins and minerals selected specifically for the daily nutritional needs of the sugar glider".
The Outback Pets website as well as myself recommend the book - "Marsupial Nutrition"
Ian Hume (1999)

Pockets,

that is were I found the ad too. The company has a web site but it is under development and doesn't have much info about Nutri-Glider up yet. I had to call the company long distance and they gave me an e-mail addy to reach them. I sent an e-mail and it didn't go through so I am going to have to call them again and see if I wrote it down wrong. Do you know what their e-mail address is Pockets? I noticed that they recommend the book by Ian Hume, it is a good book. I found it very interesting and the charts were useful. But I think there should have been more info about gliders. It was a very short chapter.

Nutri-Glider is very good. I purchased it when I bought 10 little babies from them a couple of years ago. They recommend it for babies as well as for adults. It mixes with Yogurt and juice if I remember correctly. A couple of years ago it was fairly expensive as they were still making it at home.

Pockets please tell me how your gliders like it, I am thinking about giving it a try. I'm a little worried about one of the first ingredients being sucrose, but besides that the food sounds very good. Its great that they use Acacia gum, I wonder were they get it from?

I will let you know, I'm sure it will be used as a raspberry treat only.

Gum Acacia's are mainly imported from sub-Saharan African countries - Chad, Nigeria & Sudan.
I have been searching for an Australian Acacia Gum Importer but, have not been successful quite YET!

"Gum Acacia" is used in many ways & has several applications -
Beverages, Meal replacers(dietary fiber), Flavors (fragrance encapsulation), Food products, Pharmaceuticals, Confections, & Cosmetics

Guys,

Take a close look at NutriGlider's ingredients. I would also look in the list archives from the ISGA and GSGC. This product has WAY too much milk product in it...something gliders have absolutely no use for.

Why don't you see info on their web site? They pulled it after the ISGA and GSGC questioned the content. Instead of working with those groups, Outback threatened them with lawsuits.

I do not find any info about Nutri-Glider
at ISGA or GSGC.
I see no milk product listing on the label.
Could you e-mail this info to me tinytracks@cac.net wink

Yes Angie I received their product a couple of days ago.
I feel that I would need 'Outbacks' permission before posting the ingredients in Nutri-Glider.
I will contact 'Outback' tomorrow & let you know.

My "Little People" were quite pleased!

Thank you very much Pockets, I'm sure they will allow you to post the ingredients since they didn't mind telling me them over the phone. I just wish I would have written it down so I could remember lol! I will probably order some tomorrow because it sounds like a really fun treat for gliders. What does it look like?

I found this product just this afternoon while purchasing bird seed and degu food. I paid $12.95 plus tax at my favorite pet store.
The ingredients are listed on the jar as well as analysis. It says it is to be mixed with orange juice ... but DOES NOT state whether or not this is to be used as a basic food or treat.
I have not made it up yet but may give it a try tonight.
If you are interested in the ingredients, then e-mail me ... there shouldn't be any problem doing it this way since I'm not posting it on an open forum.

Angie it is a powder mix.

Karen the typed sheet that I received with my order states the following -
When mixing Nutri-Glider you should consider the age of your glider. For adults you should mix 3 parts juice, preferably orange juice with added calcium, to one part Nutri-Glider.
For young gliders, less than 6 months old, the juice may be too acidic for their system. We suggest you use Gatorade & mix as noted above.

(I will be using this as a treat & will be using several different juices)

I have used Nutri-glider since I got my glider over a year ago. I give it to her about twice a week, she loves it. I always mix it with mixed berry FAT FREE yogurt, and fruit punch gatorade. My glider is perfectly healthy, not overweight, or anything. I got her from a breeder in Austin, TX, and she had been using it in replace of gliderade. As far as I knew, the family who made the nutri-glider lived in Austin, so I would get it there. I was under the impression that it was a small scale business in south TX.

I did try it last night mixed with orange juice and guess what ... my extremely picky gliders didn't touch it as far as I can tell.
I only mixed up a very small amount this first time. I will try again with gatorade ... possibly it could have been the orange juice they didn't like.
