After mealworms exist and feed in a container for weeks, their poo will build up and the substrate will become toxic. Here we are running it all through a medium strainer to remove the large worms.

Beetles get put into a fresh drawer after they pupate. I have water in the drawer to raise up the humidity which increases egg production.

Adult mealworms from my first round of beetles. I just moved the beetles to a fresh drawer once the offspring got too large.

A simple 3-drawer Sterilite container from Walmart holds my mealworm farm. I did not need to drill any vent holes or modify in any way.

Light makes them scramble.
