Feeling kind of down and out today..I'm at that point in my life where I'm ready to move forward and get things done but the dumb decisions I made as a youth have caught up and are holding me back..

Basically, it was almost 4 years ago now I was going to college at a large university here in Oklahoma. I was going through a rough time in life and had to get away. I ended up dropping out and moving to LA. I since moved back and was ready to finish my degree. I decided to go to a community college for my associates and then would transfer for my Bachelors. I will be getting my associates this Spring and contacted the college I dropped out of because that's where I want to go for my Bachelors. I have all intentions of going there next fall. Well, since I dropped out, I now owe them near $2400 before I can enroll.

I knew I'd probably owe them some money or have to do a few things before I could re-enroll, but this is a major set back. If anyone has a time machine I'd like to borrow it so I can go kick my old self in the butt a few times please.

Thanks.

Just don't ever get a credit card, and don't drop out of college! I'm sure I was told that over the course of my life. Sometimes we just have to learn the hard way.

Just because they are positive things doesn't make them any less overwhelming! These are life-changing events. When I got married, I had started a new job the week before and we moved into our first house the week after. I had also just received my Associates a few months before. Getting married, starting a new job, moving into a new house and newly graduated was really overwhelming...oh-and throw in a toddler! You can do this and everything that is meant to happen, will. You can DO it!!!! :)

Stress is stress, whether good or bad! I remember the two years around the time I got married...I ended up sick with every bug that came around me. I started my career. We bought our first house together. We planned a big wedding and got married. We had a baby. Oye! Lots of good stuff, but it can still exhaust your body. Just remember to take your vitamins, get rest, BREATHE, exercise and eat well. Remember to take time for some fun, too!

Rita, I LOOOVE me some Fleetwood Mac!

Thank you all so very much. I haven't logged on since Monday so it was very nice to come back and see this. You guys are the best virtual family ever!!

I've just got SO MUCH going on right now, in a major turning point in my life. Waiting for the boyfriend to propose already, wondering if we can buy a house or not, getting the associates degree this spring, etc....there's just SO MUCH going on in my head lately that sometimes I feel like I'm going to have a nervous break down!!! Atleast I have you guys to cheer me up.

I know things could be worse, I know that. Atleast most of the things stressing me out ARE potential good things. It's just hard to explain...It's just an overload.

There is a song for everything in our lives. When I get down - I like to listen to this one:

Dont Stop by Fleetwood Mac plus lyrics

I've seen you continue to amaze us here all the time with the things you have pulled yourself through. You remind me of the little engine that could.

Remember.....

I think I can,
I know I can,
and then, I knew I could.

We're here for you girl. Everytime you need an ear and a hug you'll get it from all of us here, the other family....lol

Hey we all make mistakes, but aleast we can learn from them. I keep saying to myself If I only knew what I know now about 20 years ago I would have done some things different. So I can only start now and move forward. Same with you start now and just keep moving forward. Good luck.

Tisha, just to cheer you up, I made a call and there's a bonus SYTYCD on tonight with Wade Robson choreographing. I may have thrown in some NappyTabs and Sonia as well...I'm here for you, girl!

Tisha - I believe in you. You have a good head on your shoulders no matter what you may have done in the past. Everyone has done something they aren't happy about Lord knows I have. But as others have said - try not to dwell on the past. Look forward and to what you want to and will accomplish. This is yet a small crack in the road.

As much as it sucks to owe money again it sounds like you have a plan to get it done. And you were smart enough to not procrastinate and get the information early. That shows a lot about the person you are now.

The best of luck. I am proud of you.

HUGS

Just take things one day at a time. Keep plugging away towards your goals and then when you get all done just imagine what a sense of accomplishment you will have!

You know that it'll all pay off in the end and your efforts will be rewarded!

B'sides, you got your gliders and friends to cheer you along the way!

Go Tisha!

Dont focus on the "mistakes" you made... whatever does not kill you makes you stronger. Instead focus on the positives in your life...

I had a few terrible things happen to me in my life... the one thing that I try to constantly do when I feel like poop or start to get down on myself is remember that no matter what... it would always be worse...

Be glad you have two working legs to get to the college, even if it is to find out that your screwed and cant enroll....

Be glad that you can see the sun shining down each day when you wake up.

I know it sounds stupid when your sad but... take one thing at a time. Dont focus on the big picture until your ready because it will overwhelm you and take away all of your motivation to do anything.

Baby Steps...

You gotta be out of pouch before you can glide? Am-i-rite?

Oh Tisha you will make it through! When things are getting me down I always look back at the things that have brought me down in the past and look at how I pulled through. It gives me strength to know I pulled through those things when I didn't think I could and I will pull through these other things too. Good luck to you. You know you have a virtual family here and we will always help you with open arms.

Thank you guys. I have other things weighing me down too right now so the timing of this really sucked...I've cried 3 times at work already! I'm just ready for a mental break...

I know it can get really discouraging, every time you think your head's finally above water it seems like someone adds more water to the pool! You'll get there, girlfriend, and you'll be fine. (((hugs))) Rough patches suck, don't they?
Mollysmom Posted - Oct 26 2009 : 02:25:34 PM
Tisha:

I'm still kicking myself for some of the stupid decisions that I made in my youth. However, realize that everything does happen for a reason! You'll survive, and feel more confident and stronger for sticking to your guns, following your dreams, and working hard to pay off your debt. I know, because I've been there. I bet most of us have been there!!!
tisha Posted - Oct 26 2009 : 01:50:20 PM
Thanks Rita..I will be able to pay it..I have until next fall, so it's good that I contacted them this early. I had a feeling that I should. I just didn't think it would be that much. I have plenty of time to save though...

It's just frustrating because it's one thing after another..I'm trying so hard to get out of the debt that I put myself in as a teenager and everytime I get one thing paid off, something else shows up that's 3 times more than the thing I just paid off!!

It gets discouraging after a while...especially since now it's either 1. I save every penny to pay this off before next fall or 2. I go to a different school and pay this off later. Obviously the first choice is best...I'm just getting sick of school and this new delimma is not helping..
