I just had to show off my 14 yr old daughter. She just left this evening to go on her very 1st real date. She's going to the Military Ball with a young man from her school. She looked so beautiful and of course that first date thing always makes a mom cry and a dad lurking in the hallway with a shotgun.

Anyway I took a few pictires and wanted to share. I'm so proud.

I'm amazed you haven't had to beat the boys with a stick to keep them away from her!

U need to teach her self defence. You could have her dad teach her how to shoot the gun.Your going to have a boy problem. Just let them know who the boss is.

She had a wonderful time. Dancing, mingeling, having their pictures taken professionally. There were a few of her friends there as well so she didn't feel completely out of place. She was quite nervous as I said it was her first date. Her dad and I had already gone to bed when she got home as we had to go to work early today. I figured she'd call when she got home so we could let her in but just guess who was waiting up for her. Her older sister was just like a mother hen. It was just to funny.

If he (her date) didn't look safe enough her dad wouldn't have ever let her go. She'll be 15 in two months and I know the letting go is hard. She's our last baby and I can hardly believe these years are upon us.

Thank you all for your kind words. I think she's quite beautiful myself. Now you know I'm not in the least prejudice here. Anyway she had an absolute wonderful time and we got past the first date hurdle. Next hurdle is the driving permit. Oh my not again.

Beautiful! Beautiful girl, beautiful dress, beautiful handsome young man ... it's hard to believe they're only fourteen. (I know, Anita, you look at her and say, fourteen already? When did that happen?) They both look so grown up and happy to be doing this thing on this night. Wonderful!

I am so excited for her, I know how she's feeling. I went on my first date with a guy named Christian, and its been three years sense then and we are still together!

They look very responsible

She looks so beautiful! My 14 yr old is getting ready to perform in a USO show in about an hour. Big night for military and 14 yr olds. I hope she has a great time. Don't worry too much. She'll have such a great time. You must be so proud, Anita!!
