Hey, so today my pregnant females joey in pouch had it's tail and foot sticking out and it has been moving a lot! I might be going on a vacation so I was wondering how long you guys think it will be before the joey comes o.o.p I don't want to get a babysitter for them and then have the joey be born without me

Thanks

Hey, I have seen the joey out but I'm not sure if he/she has detached yet. She puts the joey back into the pouch a lot but it doesn't fit. She was "singing" to it today while it was half in the pouch. Is it considered out of pouch or do I have to see it detatched? Also it has already been out of pouch then does the mom still carry it in the pouch a lot? (I have seen its face and whole body but it was still attatched.
Thanks

In my journal I posted things 'per day' as it happened. I only had 1 joey in pouch, so the day the pouch was "open" would be the same probably. I am guessing..... (looking into crystal ball)........ 6 days! But you can look at my journal and see how long it was.

Just FYI The joey is not OOP until you see it off the nipple, hanging out dont count :)

Just an FYI...when gliders give birth to joeys, they are about the size of a grain of rice. Then, they crawl into the pouch, latch on to a nipple and that's where they develop for the next 10 weeks. Your joey was actually born over 2 1/2 months ago. You'll hear people refer to joeys being "OOP" (Out of Pouch). Basically, today's your joey's first day OOP.

Thanks Michelle The joey went back into Stella's pouch and I've heard that happens but will it come out again today?

Congrats! Once it is completely off mama you can start holding it, just a few minutes at a time to start. Eyes usually open around 10 days average.

The joey was born! Iam so exited! I just quietly looked into their sleeping area today and saw it's whole body out and just it's head sticking into stella's pouch nursing Are you supposed to start holding them when their eyes open?
