Help!! One of my gliders got out of the cage yesterday and she's been missing for a while. The other glider stayed in the cage, but she left and I guess started adventuring. The door to the room was open, and so she can be anywhere. I left her cage on the floor open and put the other glider in the travel cage. I left treats everywhere hoping she'll find them, and, in turn, I'll find her. I have water and apples in her cage waiting for her. I stayed up all night waiting for here and nothing. What do I do???

Have you looked in all shoes and maybe air conditioning vents. Mine have too small of opening for them to squeeze into but some have large registers. Just a thought. Hope you find her.

Maybe but at the same time if she found me we stored them she wouldn't have found water around it and her staying hydrated what what worries me the most

My babies started out on Glider Chow as well. They seemed to like it,but they can't get any fluids from kibble!

Do you think she could have found the dog or cat food?
Kferg Posted - Jul 31 2016 : 09:34:50 AM
I'm really sorry to hear that.
Look for her as long as you feel you need to.
But also start focusing on your other glider and getting him on a proper diet with lots of TLC since he lost his cagemate.
Post anytime.

I left the bowls of cantaloupe, peas, yogurt mealworms and water out in 4 places of the house. Nothing. Nothing was touched. Nothing has been touched. None of the treats that I put out Wednesday night have been touched either.

I sincerely hope you've found her.
Either way, please do research on proper, healthy diets. There a several you can try, and you can use the search tool or the gliderpedia here as a start. I hope your boy ate last night as well. Until you choose a diet, the one tablespoon vegetables, one tablespoon fruit, and boiled egg is an acceptable place to start.
There's a lot of great info about gliders on this site. It may sound different from what you've already heard, but you will discover that this site (and others like it) are legit and offer excellent advice.
Keep us updated.

You should look into a better diet for your gliders.

I left cantaloupe peas yogurt and mealworms out for her tonight. Along with water in a tiny bowl. I hope that draws her in or gives me an idea of where she is.

Ok, I gave my gliders that diet at first as well, but it's not very healthy. I'm not criticizing, just trying to help. Your remaining glider might eat if you offer him fruits and/or vegetables. No onion or rhubarb, they're toxic. Give one tablespoon fruit, one tablespoon vegetable. Frozen is fine, you don't even have to cook it because it will thaw pretty quickly. Boil or scramble an egg and give that to him as well.
I don't know if your other glider could still be ok, but I just wouldn't give up yet. Try any or all of the advice you've gotten and you never know.

What diet do you feed? Do you have frozen veggies? Corn? Peas? Carrots? Broccoli?
Kferg Posted - Jul 30 2016 : 07:09:06 PM
Maybe you could leave some more enticing food out (I think all you mentioned so far was apples and yogurt?) in each room? Most gliders love peas, corn, cantaloupe and other fruits and vegetables. Leave a certain amount -like five pieces?- so you can be positive if some is missing. If you discover some missing in a particular room, tear that room up! Don't give up yet. She may be finding food somehow on her own.

Do you think she could still be alive? Also what do I do to get my other glider to eat. He won't eat his food.
NyxandBenny Posted - Jul 30 2016 : 06:42:35 PM
Maybey try putting dishes of mealies in every room and close all the doors and see in which room the mealies go missing. I've heard of them geting into furnature and appliances
Guardkenz2 Posted - Jul 30 2016 : 06:33:34 PM
Should I still only do one location even if she can be on any of the 3 floors? Also, it's been 3 days. She was dehydrated on Monday and we got her back to normal. Do you still think she's okay? I worry because I know she hasn't had any water or food in 3 days.
jdching Posted - Jul 30 2016 : 01:19:28 PM
Like BYK said, put the treat out in ONE spot. It would be too difficult to watch several places at once.
gr8rcfan Posted - Jul 30 2016 : 07:09:33 AM
Mine loves to get into drawers. If there was one left just a Crack open enough for her to get inside, she goes there. She also likes bathrobe pockets. He likes pillow cases
BYK_Chainsaw Posted - Jul 30 2016 : 01:00:45 AM
I have a container of dried mealworms or container of live mealworms.
If I'm close to them and shake the container or open it, they come running. That wont help you today.
I would keep checking rooms etc. being careful to check any spot they could curl up and sleep, folds of towels and cloths, furniture.
I would put dried mealworms out in ONE spot, like 5 of them, then check to see if any were eaten, then refill if any missing. try to get him/her to come out at night for the mealies.
Good luck.

Heard the bark in the dining room and the sneeze in the living room. Should I tear every room apart again? I left little bowls of yogurt and water on each floor of the house along with the pouches and treats. Do you think that would be any good?
NyxandBenny Posted - Jul 29 2016 : 08:12:28 PM
Found mine after a 9hr jailbreak. She was in the hood of a sweater in my closet fast asleep. Same closet I checked 3 times. You literally have to check and touch everything and hope they crab when u disturb there slumber.
Kferg Posted - Jul 29 2016 : 07:41:53 PM
Where were you standing when you heard the sneeze and bark? What room? Start there. Look again. Like jdching said, sometimes it takes a couple of tries. They're really good at hiding, but if you're persistent you may find her.
If you heard the bark outside, then get a flashlight and look around.
Guardkenz2 Posted - Jul 29 2016 : 07:35:43 PM
We have seriously searched everywhere in the house. I have even gone outside at 4 am to call her name and nothing. Can't find her anywhere I heard a bark once and a sneeze but i cannot locate where it came from
jdching Posted - Jul 29 2016 : 07:33:51 PM
I've never really lost a glider, but I have had them hide inside the recliner chair or under the sofa. When I put a spoonful of yogurt on the floor they would come out pretty quickly.
Depending on how much you trust your dogs, you might consider using one of them to sniff out your glider. My ex had two gliders escape one night and his 2 dogs pointed them out the next morning. One was in the bathtub and the other was sitting on the curtain rod in the kitchen.
Don't give up! A few months ago someone had a mom and baby escape and hide inside the insulation of the oven for eight days. Someone else finally found their baby inside a pocket in the closet after going through the closet 3 times!

I'm so sorry. I would be too.
Keep your other animals locked in a room for now.
Start in the room with the cage. Check every nook and cranny methodically. Listen for her while you are checking. Look carefully for places you didn't think of, but a tiny creature might squeeze into. Be very quiet as you search so you might hear if she moves and makes noise. Keep some fleece and treats in your pocket in case you find her. Keep the lights low while you search and maybe just use a flashlight.
Do one room at a time.
I'll be thinking of you. Crossing my fingers.

We have 2 dogs and a cat. We are trying to keep them locked up for the most part but they need to be out sometimes. It's been almost 48 hours and she still hasn't come back to the cage or the pouches. I've woken up every 2 hours just to call her name and check the pouches and cages. Anytime the other glider jumps and makes a noise, I wake up and think it's her. I don't know what else to do and I'm freaking out.
Kferg Posted - Jul 29 2016 : 06:31:08 PM
I really hope you found your missing glider.
I don't have any experience in this (thankfully) but I suppose these are the things I would do (besides what you're already doing and Leela's suggestions):
Check inside furniture
Around the time your glider wakes up, go room to room. Shake the treat jar if you have one, call her name, and listen carefully.
Check for holes, cracks or other escapes room by room.
Best of luck. I very much hope you find her.
Leela Posted - Jul 28 2016 : 09:17:42 PM
are there other pets in the house?
Leela Posted - Jul 28 2016 : 09:14:15 PM
Make sure the toilet seats are closed, don't do any laundry wash or dry till she is found, get on youtube and play videos of barking gliders to help lure her out. Check any clothes in the room, closet what ever check pockets hoods ect...

She was dehydrated on Monday and taken to the vet Tuesday. The vet says shes fine now, but I still worry that she's not fully back to herself and since she did not come for water last night I worry that she's going to get dehydrated again and I won't be there to nurse her back to health again. Please help. I habe no idea what else to do.
