Hello,
I'm trying to find whether Douglas wood is safe or not for gliders, the gliderpedia page list it as safe, but at the same time it also lists "firs" as safe while other sources mention them as toxic...
Does anyone have experience with Douglas wood?

Thanks ;)
I'm a bit worried because I have lots of douglass in the house and I noticed a few days ago that someone was chewing the backside wood of the shelves, I haven't noticed any ill effects so far but still...

Here's all I could find, although you've probably have found these also.

Not any kind of Fir is listed as safe or unsafe on this page:
http://www.lssugargliders.com/safetoxic-flowers-and-woods

This page lists Fir as toxic, however it's listed as to not use a bedding due to phenols or oils:

However, I can not find it now, but I have seen Fir listed as safe wood to use. I normally side on "safe better than sorry", but I have purchased wood perches and platforms from Petco, that I thought were made from Fir, and had seen that it was on the safe list. This is the list I can no longer find, but I've been using these for a while, showing no ill effect. Although, my Lulu did pass recently without showing any symptoms of illness, my other two gliders are seeming to be fine.

I hope the links work, I've had trouble with links in the past.
