There is no real answer for how much you "should do" tent time. It's different for everyone and can depend on jobs, kids, other pets etc... Personally I don't use mine that much, I use it a few days a week for gliders that are new to me, once I hit a certain point ( Usually about 2 weeks ) with them I stop using the tent. At most I'm in a tent for a couple hours, at the least a half hour, depends on the gliders. When I first got the tent I would set it up in the morning right after coffee and do all 3 of my cages throughout the day.... I did that maybe 3 times lol then just used it for new gliders because all my other ones just stay on me anyway so it's kind of pointless. I don't use toys in the tent, it distracts the gliders and is counter productive for me, but I'm not using the tent for their play time, I'm using it to let them get used to me on their own terms. How you use the tent and what you use or don't use in the tent for is up to each owner to decide, there really is no right or wrong way to go about it, just depends what you want to get out of it. For a brand new owner, I would suggest no toys initially to let the gliders get to know YOU, as they do then add toys if you want them to play as well as bond... How often? As much as you can or as little as your schedule allows, any bonding time is time well spent even if it's just a half hour.
