Okay so I have a 2 1/2 year old classic gray sugar glider and because she was lonely, I have adopted another one. I have been having tub time with them to introduce them + have their cages next to each other. Here’s the problem: when I have the tub time thing w/ them, both gliders jump on me and sniff each other. Everything’s going fine until Mocha, the new one, tries to go into my hoodie. Maisi (the older one) will start hissing at her and Mocha will scamper away. If they are going to be in the same cage I need them to be able to sleep together and be in the same area without fighting. Can someone tell me why Maisi is doing this and ways to correct it? |

can be with each other without a REAL FIGHT, (they might have a short spat while
the sort out who is who, alpha and so forth.) then take a well washed pouch that
is scent free and see if they will go into it together and NOT fight. again a
quick spat can happen and you have to make a judgement call to let them continue
or stop introductions after you stop the fight. When we stopped intros, it was a pretty violent fight we had to break up and after 2 of them, one I got bit hard separating them, we stopped the intro.
4. finally, if they get along, stop fighting, seem to be ok with each other
after some time has passed in tub, hopefully they are in pouch together not fighting, you are ready to move them to a clean cage that has been wiped down so it
as less scent on it, some have posted the cage doesnt need to be perfectly clean.
ONCE THEY ARE TOGETHER leave them together, don't separate unless they fight at
night, keep an eye on them if you can for the first few nights.
