Any suggestions or tricks to get glider to come out of pouch to play. I don’t like trying to force him out as he crabs and don’t want to scare him. My gliders awake in the pouch I can see the pouch moving around it’s hanging hanging on the side of the cage but it takes him forever to finally come out and play. Is there any tricks to get him out? Occasionally I can get him to come out of his coconut house if I leave an apple slice on the ladder but he’ll take it into the coconut and hideout.

I turn the pouch inside out and push them out as I do so. For bonding time I aim them towards the bonding pouch as I do it and they usually go in alright. If it's late and they're awake they'll usually crawl out on their own after a bit anyway though.

One of mine crabs at me if I disturb him during the day sometimes. It's his way of telling me he's annoyed and I probably accidentally trained him to crab more as he wasn't as crabby at his previous home or when I first got him. Originally he only crabbed when startled, but I would stop what I was doing when it happened because I didn't mean to startle him so now he's a bit more vocal and uses it to tell me when he wants me to stop doing something in general.

i think the few moments of crabbing is fine, he will be (hopefully) running around and enjoying time with you moments later.
We have some gliders they just love to crab.
in our 7 colony scarface has just started to not crab after we have had her for 2 years. Mary still crabs in pouch all the time.
In our 4 colony that is newer, pinkie is just starting to slow down on crabbing, he used to crab BAD with lounges. Now you have to scare him for him to grab bad. Little cupcake has had some injury before we got her, vet could not say what, but she just crabs like crazy.

it's just their natural defense to scare away anything bad or unknown. I have read that in a colony one may take it as their duty to crab at anything for the safety of the group.

Ok I’ve tried the toothpaste method as well as bunching up the pouch as Pablo climbs up it but he crabs a lot. Just trying to make sure I’m not agrivating or stressing him out.

We have sleeping pouches hanging on cage with the plastic rings. For playtime I will just disconnect pouch from cage and carry to play area. then if he doesn't come out I just slowly push him out like a tube of toothpaste. Once out the sleeping pouch gets put away so he doesn't go back in it.
Connor is a crabber, we got him as a rescue and he had limited human time. so he crabs LOUD and HARD if you bother him. If crabbing traumatized gliders Connor would be a basket case.
Today I had trouble getting Conner transferred to bonding pouch, He wouldn't let me squeeze him out, finally he got free and jumped back into cage, so I gave him access to bonding pouch and he went in. After 1.5 hours of lots of crabbing, and chewing at bonding pouch I finally moved to bathroom, set it up and let Conner loose.
After all the crabbing he did great, ran around explored, walked on me some, checked out my glasses, had a few treats, and let me pet him, never crabbing and even thought he is very nervous and jumpy he never tried to bite me. I kept putting my fist slowly to him as low as possible and after a sniff I would pet him with one finger and he never came close to biting me.

So no tricks just push him out like he's toothpaste, he'll be fine.
