One of my gliders recently passed, leaving both me and Sydney, the cagemate she left behind, heartbroken. I know that Syd is lonely/stressed (she has been overgrooming ever since Addie passed), and I really want to get her a new friend. I've never done glider introductions before though, and I am SUPER nervous about it.

(I apologize in advance for the super long post/17 million questions lol)

I've done a ton of glider introduction research (on this site and a bunch of others), and I've read all the how-tos I can get my hands on. I know, theoretically, what to do. I'm still kind of freaking out about the whole thing though. I guess my biggest worry is what if I do everything right and the introduction still goes bad?? Has anyone here had gliders who just would not get along no matter what? How likely is something like that to happen?

Also, it seems that on most of the sites I looked at people say that age or gender don't really affect how well gliders get along (so long as all males are neutered and all gliders are at least old enough to hold their own). However, I've read posts by a few people who swear that these things do matter . . . does anybody here have any knowledge/personal experience about which mix of ages/genders, if any, work best? Syd is 9, and I was kind of hoping to get her a pal somewhat close to her in age.

And how about numbers? I've read that introductions between two single gliders usually work because both gliders are lonely and desperate for companionship. Finding a single glider to adopt is proving to be a bit of a struggle, though, as a lot of people rehome gliders in pairs . . . is introducing a single glider to a pair a lot harder than introducing two single gliders?

Are there any other things I should be looking for in a new glider(s) that may affect the outcome of the introductions? Syd is a very chill glider, and kind of aloof. Addie was more outgoing and adventurous. Should I be looking for another outgoing glider since I know that that kind of personality matched well with Syd before?

If anybody here has any words of wisdom or reassurance, I sure would appreciate it!!
