I went back to my house (away from college) for one day. My roomates fed the gliders. I just got home and took Izzy out. Her poud is inside out. It is basically hanging out exposed. I dont know what to do. It looks kind of dry. Im real scared please help

Does she have a baby, if she has a baby then it should be normal soon but if she doesn't you should go to the vet if she isn't normal within a couple minutes.

Does it look red and/or irritated? Does it look crusty? Can you see pus? (yuck - I hate that word!)

Take a Q-tip, moisten it with warm water, making sure it is almost dry - then gently poke the pouch back in place. Chances are she has been doing a some aggressive grooming. Keep an eye on her - if she continues to show interest in her pouch or you find it out again, a vet check is in order.

Its not pusy but it looks a bit crusty. She has no baby, but a male glider does share a cage with her. I dont know if he could have done it to her. Im so scared Im going to try the Q tip right now

ok i couldt get it in, its like a red lump hanging, almost like a tumour. should it look like that? the emergency vet doesnt see exotics

i have no idea what would what a baby look like, the male has only been with her a month.

it looks swollen, it really looks worse then what it does in the photo.

well what you are seeing is a nipple. My glider has had that hang out but only when she had a baby. I can't think of anything you can do maybe somenoe with experience will see this.

is she possibly in heat? she definitely has no baby. the soonest i can get her into the vet would be in the morning. all of the exotic specialists are at home. They didnt even offer to call them.

Actually I just put her back in the cage and the male glider made a clicking noise and almost looked like he was trying to suck at the pouch. I have no idea what is going on. If she isnt better by morning I am taking her to the vet

Good idea, Courtney. I think she needs a vet check, too. Then your mind will be at ease.

You might want to think about talking to the vet regarding neutering the male while you are there - otherwise- you will be overwhelmed with joeys.

GOOD NEWS GUYS!!!!! I just checked on Izzy and it looks like her pouch is back in! Oh my gosh that gave me quite a scare! I am going to check on her in the morning and if it looks irritated Ill take her to the vet again. Id like to have Joeys atleast once. But I wouldnt want Izzy to get hurt in any way. Her and Zeke get along good though. Thank you so much for all your help! You all were there in my time of need!

So glad to here Izzy is OK. They certainly can scare us, cant they!
