My female has 2 OOP joeys that have been OOP for about 4 or 5 days. Sometimes I hear her making agitated noises, not quite crabbing but a fussing sound and I go in to check on her and she's nursing her babies but also squirming around like she's uncomfortable. Is this normal? She's a first time mom and I'm really worried about her.

If it's not singing she might be what the book said shrieking when she's nursing because her nipples are sensitive but it doesn't seem like she's shrieking from what you described so it may be singing as posted above

Have you seen the joeys actually detached from the nipple? or is mom just taking them OOP for grooming then stuffing them back in.

Generally the 'singing' which is really more of an uncomfortable noise begins several days before the joeys actually detach so mom can actually leave the pouch to eat and get a little exercise with out them. Joeys are not considered OOP until they have actually detached even though mom may take them out of her pouch for periods of time for a week or so before they actually detach.

That is exactly what it is! Thank you so much! I was so worried, I thought something was wrong.

She is uncomfortable, but that is part of nursing for like four months straight or however long it is. It's okay - people call it singing, though I see it as a little cry of pain lol.. but it's normal =)
