I know you feed them when they start to wake up at dusk I was just curious at about what time your gliders eat at. I have pellets in the cage for them but I'm curious about when to give them there fruits and veggies with the their thawed frozen mixture.

I used to put dinner in around 7:30 as my gliders were getting up around 8, but lately they've been getting active earlier so I've started putting food in by 6:30.

I do have a couple gliders who are prone to get food aggressive if food isn't in the cage right when they awake, though, so I'd rather feed early than late.

My feeding schedule tends to vary by the seasons, too. But generally I aim for dinner to be served 15-30 mins before they get out of their sleeping pouches.

We feed after they wake up because we're lazy, but we have one food aggressive glider who chases his cage mate around. I didn't realize it could be because they have to wait for breakfast - I'll have to try feeding them before they wake up, which is usually around 7:30-8:30pm. Any time I put food in the cage it wakes them up and they come out just to eat, so I'll have to make it right on time.

Well this is the first day I've had my gliders and don't worry I have done a lot of research :) and I don't think either of them is food aggressive. I fed them at around 8 30 today because they seemed pretty awake but I wasn't sure if they were just hyper because they were at a new home or something. I decided not to use the glider kitchen we made because they're still getting used to the cage and stuff but they made a huge mess so I think I will probably use it tomorrow.

As it is only their first day with you, they have not had time to settle and show their "normal" patterns and you have not had the opportunity to spend time to get to know them. You have no basis on if there is any food aggression because they are pretty mixed up at this point.

Since you chose to leave pellets in the cage during the day (not really necessary, but some people do use a few in case of "midnight cravings") be sure to take those out before they wake up and toss them out so that they can be replaced with fresh ones the next day. You do not want them to fill up on something that has practically no nutritional benefit and then not being hungry enough to eat the good foods that you provide.

I rarely wait until they are awake unless I've gotten extremely distracted. My Maeve always wakes up a good half hour before her cage mates. So, even if I've forgotten, I hear her tip toeing around looking for the 'good stuff' before her friends wake up, and that prompts me to get their food in. On a usual night, you can set your clock to her being up at 8:45 (depending on time of year as well as other intermittent factors such as the weather, etc.)

Being that I'm able to predict fairly well that they won't be up earlier than 8:45, I have their food in at 8:15 which gives it time to thaw...and they have the comfort of knowing there is always fresh food to rely on.
