I took Ginny to the vet because I was concerned she was constipated, and it turns out she's a little underweight. :( The vet recommended supplementing her HPW with an insectivore diet like Insectivore-Fare from zoofood. Is the Insectivore-Fare from exotic nutrition the same product?

I'm reluctant to buy a ten pound bag of it before I know whether or not she'll eat it.

PS The constipation cleared up just fine.

I think it's the same product just under different names. There are different sized bags though you can get a small one for now. I am curious why a vet would recommend that diet for weight gain.

He was concerned about her level of protein--that she was maybe having too much on the fruit side of things, and not enough on the protein/insect side.

He still wants her on the HPW with fruits and veggies, just wants to add this as well.

You can purchase this product in a smaller package from SunCoast if you want to try it.

Keep in mind that gliders have small stomachs and what ever amount of the dry food they eat will REDUCE that amount of the HPW, fruits and vegetables they can consume.

The zookeeper's secret also dries out when left in the cage - so the uneaten food will need to be discarded and replaced every day or two.

My gliders were never fond of this product. I used the SunCoast diet when I got Sassy and Corky from them in 2008. I definitely threw out more than they actually ate.

Thanks for the advice, Candy. On the vet's advice, I've been giving her a larger than usual portion of HPW, and she is finishing it all, and still eating about the same amount of fruits and veggies as before, so I feel optimistic that she'll still eat the rest of her food even with the addition of a pellet.

Is Mazuri a better option?

I think Suncoast's zookeeper's secret is the same as the Mazuri Insectivoir food but you do not have to purchase it in a large quantity.
