You should get a Leu joey. However you should only be breeding lineaged gliders, so make sure you have lineage on your babies if you plan to breed. Also make sure you study up on how to hand raise joeys incase they are rejected. Have a rejection kit handy and be prepared for the worst.

You would have a 50% chance that any joey would be a leu.

If the two gliders have a lineage that shows they are NOT closely related and you have educated yourself in the various problems that can arise with joeys - then you need to consider what you will do if NONE of the joeys are Leu.

Just as any joey the pair might have has a 50% chance of being a leu - there is an equal chance that it will appear to be a normal classic grey glider you can call 100% leu het. There is a 50% chance that NONE of the joeys the pair has will be leu joeys.

Like KritterCare said, if you plan to breed your gliders, you should DEFINITELY have a joey rejection kit ready. I've only been a member for a little while, but I've already seen multiple threads about joeys dying, because they were rejected and the owner wasn't prepared with a joey rejection kit. Also (although I know very little about glider pregnancy and breeding), I know when gliders have a joey in their pouch, they have different nutritional needs. I think part of it is them needing more protein. But I'm not sure how much more or what, if any, other nutritional needs pregnant gliders have. You should definitely research that stuff or ask experienced members on here about it before breeding happens.

I agree with the above. Be PREPARED BEFORE IT HAPPENS. I also think that you should get more acquainted with gliders before even worrying about breeding.

Your best chance of having a leu is to breed to a 100% leu het. You should not breed leu to leu because of the close inbreeding of leus. I know that was not asked but thought I would throw out that tidbit of information just in case you didn't know about it.
