I thought this post was rather unique and worth sharing. It would be an interesting thing to own this cage and see how these animals interact. This isnt even a flying squirrel here. It seems very irresponsible for the owner to have done this, yet, my scientific curiosity cant help but come out and wish that I had these guys so I could see what I could see. Very interesting experiment.

4 Sugar Gliders, Squirrel, and large cage

Price: $400
Category: Other Pets
Sex: Female|Male

4 sugar gliders (2 male, 2 female) and female squirrel available with large cage. Squirrel was raised with the gliders and gets along with them great. They even sleep together in the same pouch. Both male gliders are not neutered and one is blind but manages just fine. Email if interested.

I have seen references to sugar gliders living with flying squirrels. Does anyone know of any instances of this?

The Odd Couple, Ed the sugar glider and Lucy the Flying Squirrel are both rescued four year olds that have lived with each-other most of their lives. This is the first time ed has climbed on me!

Last year I took in a flying squirrel and sugar glider couple. They got along OK. The sugar glider was very protective of the squirrel. But, neither of them looked very good from grooming each other and the squirrel looked TERRIBLE from being marked by the sugar glider.

Diet is particularly difficult when housing them together.
Eventually, Leche (the squirrel) bit Dulce's tail and Dulce had to have a tail amputation. His healing time was the perfect time to separate them, and they are both much healthier now.

They sure were cute together, though! Here's my cute couple:

Flying squirrels are a lot smaller than I thought. Too bad about Dulce's tail, and so sad that they both had to lose their long-time companion. It sounds like they got along well until that mishap. Bringing two species together can be a risky business.
