Is Gizmo overgrooming? He has some VERY tiny separations in his fur on his back, and some on his arm area. I think it is after seeing some pictures of gliders that have overgroomed. I just noticed it this morning..

It might help someone answer this if you could post some pics of it.

well, it's very small separation so it'd be hard for you to look at with it being not that big and a horrible camera..

Generally, when they overgroom they focus on one particular area until it is bald. What it sounds like you are describing is breaks in the fur. It clumps together in spots and does not look smooth. This can be diet related.

Could it be from the diet he was on before you aquired him?

yes, I rescued him from this horrible family that was feeding him pellets. But that was about 3 months ago.

Are the fruits and veggies balanced to a 2:1 ratio? If they are not, then there is your answer. It HAS to be balanced. If it is not then the diet and the HPW are pretty much worthless.

Now, have you noticed this recently or has it been like this since you got him. If it's been this way since you got him then you know it started with the previous family. If it's new, though, it's a different story.

Where are you located? Sometimes, when the heat begins to come on in cooler regions, gliders' fur dries out and might look like this. It the air very dry in your house?

Yes, if its hot and dry in your house, that will have an effect on the gliders fur. If that's the case, you might want to put a drop of liquid vitamin E in their food.
