Im just wondering because I have absolutely no idea

They collect a fecal sample (or you can do it yourself and take it in to them) and they smear it on a slide and stick it under a microscope to see if they can spot parasites in the poop. I think there are also some tests they do as well.

A fecal float is a totally different test from a smear and is a quite a bit more accurate and detects a wider range of parasites:
