Are there any sugar glider rescues anywhere near Kentucky? I'm trying to think ahead. Just in case Toto and Cammi end up not getting along. If I have to end up getting them buddies, I would love to adopt.
I know its silly for me to be worrying about this now. But just trying to think ahead.

I don't know of anyone specific in Ky, but there is always craigslist as long as you are smart about how you handle it, and you make ABSOLUTELY sure the glider is clean by taking it to a vet before and after the required 30 day separation from your other babies. My first three gliders were all found through craigslist and they are everything to me, so, there are some happily ever afters that have resulted from craigslist. I've been blessed in that I have three of them.

We got Cammi off Craigslist and even though she hates us right now, she's very special to us. I would just love to rescue one from a shelter. What is the railroad service I keep reading about?

Railroad is when a chain of people, usually individuals who have met on a forum like this, all chip in to help get a glider from point A to B. Sometimes this works out very well, sometimes not, so you want to make sure that you know who you are dealing with. But in all honesty, if you just hold out, you WILL find some babies through craigslist. Just don't necessarily jump on the first one you see. Be smart and use your instincts. Unless you are prepared to deal with another "complicated" glider, you need to try to get one that will at least let you handle it without it taking a bite out of you. Some people get easily frustrated with their new gliders when they adopt one with a troubled past that affects its personality. They don't have the knowledge or the patience to deal with the months of rehab some of these guys need. Then they begin to think that the reason why they wound up with a "dud" is because they got it through craigslist.

So, be honest with yourself about what you can and can't deal with. It doesn't make you a bad glider parent if you can't handle another one that is going to take awhile to straighten out, if they EVER even get to that point.

Plus, I've learned myself that there really is something to having one glider that is very sweet and loving, and another one that can't seem to make up its mind if it likes you or wants to rip a chunk out of you. Sometimes being paired up with a sweet glider, is enough to help the more confused or angry glider accept you quicker. So that's something to also keep in mind.

Good luck!
