We have Toto scheduled to be neutered next Wednesday. I called the vet today, and the soonest they had open was like, mid-April, but I told her what was going on, and how he was starting to over groom and showing signs of depression, and she managed to get me in on a day that wasn't surgery day, because she knew how gliders were about being alone. I was very surprised and grateful for that ^^

So what should I expect. Will I have to stay up late through the night with him for a few nights? Should I feed him differently? I just want to make sure I'm fully prepared >.<

On a brighter note, Cammi and Toto have gone back to their normal selves since weve been home. Cammi will come to the front of the cage when i walk over to her, and make this cute chirping noise when I put my hand in the cage. She LOVES to just sit on my hand and eat her dinner or groom herself, which is adorable to me. And Toto seems to be really getting along with Trav. He actually climbed into Travs hand and ate some fruit in it. I count that as progress! =] He's also been making this weird soot noise whenever Cammi's cage is in the room. I think he realizes shes there and wants to be with her lol. Cammi also has started barking in the middle of the night, and only stops when one of us gets out of bed and sits by her cage lol. We've had to start putting her cage in the bathroom at night lol xD

Also, the 30 day quarantine will be over by the time he gets neutered. How long will I have to keep them apart after the neuter? Will I have to wait a week or 2 to begin intros?

I would wait a week or two until the male hormones start to subside. They should be okay waiting that much longer.

Whether you'll have to feed him differently, or stay up to keep an eye on him, depends on the type of surgery. If they remove the pom, they should send home pain meds and an E-collar; and in that case you'll want to make sure he's in a small cage with the pouch close to or lying on the floor, so he won't climb, fall and get hurt. It should take three or four days for him to start feeling better. If they leave the pom on, he should still get the pain med and E-collar but there's a chance you won't need the collar. Watch him very carefully for at least several hours after you bring him home, and especially for several hours when he first wakes up. If you see him start to worry the site, then get the E-collar on him. In that case, you may have to hand-feed him.

I've had three boys neutered with poms on, and all three were perfectly normal within an hour of the surgery. I didn't have to do anything differently; though being a worried mom I did stay up and watch them to make sure everything was okay.

I'm glad your vet is squeezing him in early. Nothing better than a vet who cares!
