welcome not pvc coated. 1/2 to 1in bar spacing anything bigger they can get out.
if there are many doors you need to zip tie them safely and sliding doors are a pain! also it can not be rusted! if you get a used one! it must be tall but not extreme so they can jump and with room because you should get two i thought ahh id get one and itll be fine way wong i was i came home to this
its best to get two bc when you realize you need another youll be scammbling and it isnt a great feeling especially if your beyond worried.
pouches high med low for them to have options to sleep in.. a wheel or two also try investing in trim trax inserts for the wheel bc nail trimming is a nightmare some times and usually these help keep their nails short. they love to have somewhere to hide and eat their food! two water bottles one high one in the middle i have and fleece lots of fleece!! they love ball pits u can use a plastic container and fill it with soft plush balls different sizes or plastic ones! heres a photo of my cage

best wishes the only reason i used pellets in the last photo was because i ran to low on food for the both of them and was concerned of fighting while i slept and wouldnt hear them so i added some pellets to prevent this but that was only bc i was desprate and needed to go food shopping and it was to late by then!!

and research research!! make sure before you buy them that you have an exotic vet that sees them often near you! because although they dont need shots or anything god forbid u need one you dont want to travel far especailly in emergancy! i have a local vet and a vet two hours away! the local vet nail and minor concerns i use him for and the one far away i use for more serious things bc i didnt realize how rarelky my vet saw them!!

ask me anything youd like to know and if i know ill answer theres lots of cage threads check them out two!

looking through alot of other threads, it looks like some of you use bird toys? or do they just look like it?

I get most of my stuff from ebay (sugar glider cage sets, sugar glider toys), and Sarah's Suggie Shoppe.

With toys, you just have to think logically: be careful with string, we stick to plastic chains and lanyard string. Also remember that they chew, so you want to use harder plastics and avoid paper and cardboard. Make sure to check what kind of woods you're using and see if it's safe for them here on this list of safe and toxic plants: www.moondance-sugargliders.com/sugar_glider_plant-tree_information.htm

For fabric, stick to fleece. Plenty of stuff comes up on ebay for "sugar glider cage sets." Lots of corner hammocks, tunnels, pouches, stuff like that. Just be sure to check for any loose threads. There are also no-sew projects on here. If you sew, you can make your own, but be sure to use a machine and check for loose stitches when you're done :)

PVC coated cages are bad (toxic) Cages made from pvc pipes are cool.

Welcome!

A lot of us also use baby/toddler toys for our glider cages. I have a little plastic shape sorting turtle, a barn, a castle, a giraffe, and a barrel of monkeys that I rotate through. I find alot of our toddler toys at thrift stores, freecycle.com, and craigslist.

But definitely cage basics like Dd said:
1/2 bar spacing
no pvc coating
bigger is better and taller is better than wider
a wheel--Wodent Wheels or Stealth Wheels are the 2 most used I believe
lots of toys-- no rope or strings, toddler toys and some bird toys, foraging toys
I also find a lot of cage sets and foraging toys on ebay
cage pouches for sleeping
swing open doors work better than slide up in my opinion
Bonding pouches for carrying them in

As they also said, you should get 2 at least--they are colony animals and need the company of other gliders to be truely happy.
