I have seen my gliders lick pee before...so I guess not as abnormal as you would think.
If your vet lightly sedates her to be able to handle her...that may be his/her method.
My vet did the exam while they were fully awake and scared. My female chomped him hard many times thru gloves and he said it did still hurt and she crabbed profusely...so I don't know, it may be less stressful for the glider. I don't like the use of anesthesia because of the risks.
If your not comfortable with it I would make the vet aware.
