Hi,

In the countrie i live (holland) it is very hard to get rid on caterpillars, does anyone has experience on breeding them yourself?
I found this site that sells eggs of the hornworm, they only need some thing called chow as food and thats it.
Eggs will cost about 25 $ for 100 Pcs.

But i was wondering maybe someone knows how to reproduce eggs yourself, maybe from silkworms or so?
I read that you can let silkworms become silkmoths they dont fly but only mate and lay eggs , they live for about a week.
Than you can place the eggs in a zip bag in the fridge for at least three weeks (To simmulate winter) but up to 5 years!
So you can everytime take out the amount of eggs you need, and let them hatch, feed the catterpillars some mullberryleaves untill they big enough to feed.
So, you only need to let them become moths when you run out of eggs. 1 female will produce 2 times 200 to 500 eggs.
This sounds interesting..

I know breeding roaches is not that hard, but do they have a good nutrition value for suggies?

So anyone got experience with breeding your own insects for suggie treats?
