Hello everyone, I have a problem and I hope someone out there can help. I have a glider I got from a lady who isn't want him anymore. He came with a female cage mate and is neutered. She said they were approx. 8 years old. I took them to the vet today but unfortunately, they just don't know enough about them to make a difference. ( I literally paid him to Google the same thing I could have) he has a good bit of swelling around the anal opening and has a problem with incontinence. He gave an antibiotic for the female ( due to her commotion during defication) but was afraid to prescribe anything for the male. I clean their cage weekly, and feed them tpg diet and they have a giant cage. Can anyone help with suggestions?

Try to find a vet specialized in gliders they can be hard to find and more costly but worth it. Sounds like he has something wrong with his urinary tract. Does it sound like he’s in pain when he pees/poops? Is he peeing or pooping normally?

Unfortunately where I live, I not have a whole lot of options in the glider specialist department. I took him and his cage mate to the vet because she was being very vocal when she pooped,so I suspected UTI. The male doesn't seem to have any discomfort at all, but does have an incontinence problem along with a good amount of swelling. If you were to cut a grape in half and put it on a plate, flat side down, is the best representation I can think of. The vet has called his specialist friend in tennessee , but she has not heard of anything like this and doesn't have enough cause to "sedate him, and express his anal glands." I guess I was hoping that someone out there has had something similar to share because it's hindering our bonding process. Nobody wants to be drenched in pee of course, but it's not his fault.
