My sugar glider, ~3yo male, has a wound that has appeared below his eye. It’s slightly smaller than the size of his eye and rounded like a scab. He doesn’t seem to be reacting to it, and his appetite and energy levels are the same as always so far.
I’m not really sure what caused it, but I’m wondering if his nails got long for grooming, as it’s been a week or two longer than usual for his nail trim. I’ve got an appointment with my vet next Monday 9/26 to check it out, but I wanted to ask what precautions I should take for this in the meantime?
I know antibiotic ointment has received mixed safety reviews, and I’ve got an ecollar on the way to help keep him from messing with it. Any advice or recommendations at all would be appreciated so I can keep him healthy/prevent infection.
