Thank you, for all the suggestions. I live in Louisiana so cold isn't a problem and I've never used heat rocks or lamps but I had them in a different area of my house and temp is always comfortable. Now they are in my tower so they get more daylight and with the door I was just curious if I needed to add heat but I don't think so after all I've read.
As for the cage, thank you, I am proud of it and they love it and YES, it was a lot of work lol. I searched the web for a couple months for ideas and then many flea markets before I found an all wood cabinet to use because I didn't want pressed wood risk it warping because of moisture. After having them in a bird cage and fighting their mess, I knew what not to do as far as the cleaning goes. U can't really tell by the pics but I kept all the wire 1/2 inch off wood on all sides, back, and top for easy wipe down. The bottom is 2 inches from the floor for a tray or what I have now is a thick plastic I can easily pull in and out. Also the wire is secured with screws and washers for periodic disassembly for thorough inside and out cleaning. The back board is actually hung fot easy removal as well.
The materials I used, keeping in mind they can't be on galvanized metal;
-Door frames and bracing- untreated 1x2 wood
-PVC coated 19ga 1/2 inch wire hardware mesh. It's very hard to find but Academyfence.com has a great selection and good prices
-Valvore select interior enamel paint (they have very minimal contact with because of how I wired the cage)
-Latches are plastic roller locks incased in metal but are really small & standard hedges from any hardware store
-For their pouches and toys I bought fleece blankets from Walmart because buying the actual material was more expensive and for the rings I used sewing rings and wrapped/tied the fleece to them.
That's about it other than tools and A LOT of patience lol. If I missed anything, please ask and if u would like to see more close ups, I don't mind posting some. Thanks again for your advice. I do think I'm going to invest in a red light soon.
