I have had my glider, Gomez, for two weeks. He is currently 9 weeks old. He had odd behaviors and i do not know if those are normal for ones so young. First, He runs away from me in his cage, but when i hold him he doesn't try leaving me. He will crawl all over me, but not get off unless it is to explore. Is that normal?
Second, he LOVES being pet and massaged to sleep. Sometimes even sung to sleep. Sometimes, though, he crabs if i try to massage or sing. Most times not. Normal?
Third, He HATES veggies. and he only likes apples! The only fruit he will eat is apples. he turns away from anything else. He eats pellets that the woman i bought him from gave me, and there are a lot, but when those run out, what will he really eat? He loves bread though, too.
Fourth, He is bipolar to me. Sometimes he will come right up to me in his cage, and other times, he will crab and use his "tough guy act" (that i do not show fear to) and run away. If a family member is holding him, he comes right back to me if i place my hand near him.
Fith, the only noises he makes are crabbing, sneezing, and he purred once or twice.
He is only 9 weeks old and i have had him for 2. He does not have a play mate (other than me) but i give him PLENTY of attention. I am with him about 14-18 hours of the day. He is usually in a bonding pouch in the day, but sometimes he just sleeps in my sirt on my chest without one. I love him so much and i spoil him rotten. I need to know if i am on the right track with the bonding process. I have had him for two weeks and i know bonding takes months to years, but other than hand feeding him and always being with him, what can i do to help with the bonding and make him happy? (btw, i am getting another glider in a month or two to keep him company while i sleep so he isn't lonely).
