 My fourth.

I am getting my fourth and I'm assuming final glider tonight. He is a rescue from Toronto On. He is about 1 yr and recently lost his male companion...

I'm so excited, and I'm sure that Aussie, Tazz and Nova can't wait to meet him either... although they will have to wait a bit longer than I as he has a whole host of checkups to go through and surgery to be neutered as well.

I can't wait for everyone to finally meet and hopefully get along. That way my colony will be completed. I haven't even seen a picture of him, but I'm sure he is beautiful ^.^

 Together at last!

So Tazz has been neutered, I'm waiting on the results from the float and the smear and the babies are finally TOGETHER!!!!

They have been in the same cage since friday and other than some appetite issues, they seem to be doing alright... They sleep with their arms around each other and they love playing together... Next it's time to get started on their wheels and a massive cage!

Wish me luck! I'm gonna need it....

Oh and if you owned a lone glider and now she/he has a friend go post in the topic "How I met my friend" I love reading the stories, they are bittersweet and I think it's an awesome thing to be able to tell it from the gliders perspective ^.^

 ~Yay~

All my kittys are spayed and neutered!

My Chief got neutered earlier this month and he did great! Came to a total of $159 and just this past wednesday my female Picasso got spayed and that was $299.25...

Holy crap-aroni that was a lot of cash! I'm glad Tazz and Aussie are on my next pay!

So far the cost for them are
Neuter: $165.00
Visit for Aussie: $65.00
Nail trim is $16.50 ea

I'm waiting on prices for a float and smear, anyone know the average cost?

 Intros

I know how much some people don't approve of my early intro's but I would like to take some time to explain that I understand the concern of this community and that this is a huge judgement call.

I would like to say I don't advise anyone to skip quarantines unless it is an EMERGENCY. (and no "oh well I want my babies together faster!" does not count) These guys weren't meant to meet face to face until AFTER Tazz had his neuter and there was at least a vet check, regrettabley Tazz managed to get onto the bed without my knowledge and they met.

I WILL be continuing with introductions and lots of supervised play time... I'll be doing cage swapping and of course exchanging pouches... It's what appears to be best for them.

This is a judgement call and I feel that for MY babies, breaking a conventional rule was worth the risk... Parasites can usually be easily fixed where as if a tail is chewed off, that's not so easy.

They met again last night, face to face and spent a good 2 hours together running around the room. Tazz did try to mount her several times but I did pull him off before he successfully mounted. (And YES I am prepared for babies if it does happen although I DO NOT have that as a goal.) Aussie spends much of her time with him, riding around on his back and grooming him and Tazz likes gallop over to her and jump over top of her... They are a pleasure to watch and fun to play with but mostly I'm happy that Aussie is starting to grow hair back on her tail and Tazz is up for more than when he is forced to be....

Feel free to let me know what you honestly think and if you are mad and think I'm irresponsible, tell me so.... I realized I would probably not have the support of the community on this, but I did it anyways, so lets hear it....

 I have her!

SHE'S HERE!

I've never been to excited in my life! She is the most darling little thing I have ever seen except for Tazz.

Although she is not without problems... =(

She has been alone for long enough that she is self mutilating by pulling the hair from her tail, and she is overweight.

Her cage is also much to small for her to live comfortably, and it was VERY dirty and stinky. Her fur looks TERRIBLE! It's all cracked and rough...

Unfortunately there isn't much "cat free" space in the house so they have had to stay in the same room but they aren't together... There is much chattering and chirping going one and Tazz would like nothing more than to get out and see who's there!

 She is coming TODAY!

*SQUEALS*

I'm so excited I might wet my pants lol.... Aussie is being dropped off at my boyfriends place tonight and we can start the quarantine. She is in a smaller cage so that will need to be fixed... But I think I'll wait til after quarantine.

Apparently she does need a bit of TLC as she is slightly unsocialized, but nothing unworkable. She's never had a cagemate so it will definitely be an interesting experience to see how her and Tazz work out together.

I'm also looking forward to getting Tazz neutered, my new vet seems really awesome. She is fairly experienced with gliders and has seen a variety of ailments and issues.

She charges $165.00 for a neuter including a followup visit. Not sure if that includes the Metacam that she sends home for pain management or not though. They also can provide an E-collar for self mutilation. problems. Her rate for a checkup is $65.00, I'm going to see if I can bring in both gliders for a checkup at the same time and have her do some tests (float and smear) on both to save some cash. ^.^

I'm really hoping for a happy ending in this... I hope Tazz and Aussie experience love at first sight and can cure each others lonliness...

 Aussie.

The long awaited moment is drawing very near.

My boyfriend has agreed to pay for Aussie as a belated x-mas gift ^.^ She is $200.00 including her cage, toys and anything non perishable for her food.

He is going to hopefully be picking her up on the 22nd and bringing her out to me. ^.^

I'm just hoping my parents don't flip out. We already have 10 animals (o.0) in the house and 11 might put them over the edge. lol... but I think they understand the importance of these little guys having mates. I'll hopefully be getting Tazz neutered as I have a phone interview sheduled with an exotic vet next week.

I'm going to ask a couple of questions about procedure, pricing ect... is there anything specific I should be asking? I'll post in the forums too..

And for those of you worry worts, there are indeed 10 animals, but they are all well cared for and loved very much. We have 2 doggies (Dot and Merlin) 7 cats ( Tripod, Detonator, Bear, Smokey, Chief, Captain and Picasso) and of course Tazz! Both Merlin and Tripod are special needs... Merlin is deaf and has an allergy to meat protiens and Tripod is of course missing a leg... thus the name.

I am loving home very much and so are my animals, only Captain is allowed outside for the time being, but Chief and Casso both have appointments to be fixed at a local vet and after that they will be able to explore with the rest of the kittys. Tazz has a nice big room to jump around in and when I get my own room, I am allowed to glider-ize it. I already have mesh stuff for him to climb on and the unfamiliar surroundings will make intros a breeze I hope!

Anyways... wish me luck and any suggestions are welcome!

 Home

I'm home now, with my parents and brother.

I brought the cats and glider with me and all it well. I got all my stuff moved out and I am moving on with my life.

Not sure if the boyfriend and I will get through this, but I know I will and that is what matters.

Now I need to work on getting my shift for work changed and getting a place to sleep set up because a couch just sucks.
Jan 6, 2010

 One day at a time.

So life is getting better. I'm putting one foot in front of the other and doing what I can to get through this crisis.

I stayed at a motel the first night, and my friends place last night. Tonight I'm going home with my mom after work. My boyfriend and I have decided on what our plan of action is.

We are moving back in with our parents for the time being. My folks said I can keep my animals there with them and I'm even allowed to get Aussie provided they stay in my room (They aren't fond of the barking)

As for work, I have been going everyday.... taking it one day at a time. I'm trying not to miss any time or let my personal affairs get in the way of my professional life, but it's hard. I still plan on going even after I go home, but the problem is I don't drive and home is about 45min away. So Rob (my boyfriend) and I decided since we no longer need to pay any rent or bills we are going to take what money we have from our last pay and the one coming up and buy a used car. So we can drive to work and back together.

All in all, I say things are starting to work out, I just need to find a place for my boyfriend to stay tonight and tomorrow...
Jan 4, 2010

 My life is a wreck.

Okay, so today is officially the worst day of my life.

I woke up at 8:30am to someone banging on my door, It was my crazy landlord and an enforcement officer. I was told to pack up and get out. I had no idea what was going on or what to do.

Apparently the payment arrangements I had made with my landlord were ignored and he filed to the Landlord/Tenant board, never gave us notice that he had filed or gave us notice of an eviction date. We had been following through with payment arrangements so that we could get caught up on backed rent from when my room mate moved out without notice and I thought all was well. Apparently I was wrong...

The enforcement officer basically said we were SOL and that we would need to get out even though the landlords hadn't followed proper procedure and did something illegal. So we packed up some things and I put Tazz into his travel cage and we went to a local motel for the night. My cats are still at my old apartment until tomorrow... they have lots of food and water... no worries there.

I have no idea what I'm going to do tomorrow for a place to stay. My parents are coming to help me pack up and I think I'll send Tazz and my cats with them, but as for Rob and I, I don't know... We both work in Belleville and my parents live a ways a way and work at different times as us. I may end up staying at a friends place or at a local shelter until we can get a new place (Hopefully Friday).

Basically Aussie is going to be put on hold for now and I will be trying to figure out my life right now. I'm going to ask the Tribunal for a Stay or see if Salvation Army can help us cover the cost of the Motel.

Either way... your thoughts and well wishes are greatly appreciated. Wish me luck.
