I need some help!

 I need some help!

Ok guys I'm a new daddy. I got my gliders from a pet store in derby ks. I wanted to get a couple of joeys but this was my only option. I've had them for about a week one female and one male. The make seems to want to be friends with me but it seems like only when I offer treats. Other than that he just wants to get away from me and hide behind stuff. I know this takes time but I'm getting a little discouraged. I put one of my undershirts in the cage after I wore it and they now prefer that over their sleeping pouch. Also they will get in the bonding pouch but if I look in there or try to pet them the female crabs and bites me. She seems to want nothing to do with me at all. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Am I giving them too many treats? I'm scared that this is their temperament and it's never going to get better

Also, I've had my 5 year old boy for about 5 months now and he still isn't completely bonded to me. Still prefers his cage. He never left it before I got him, so it's understandable. They definitely do take time.

What I did to bond to my older glider who was crabbing at me was to reach in, slowly, and go from underneath (not above their heads because that is like a predator) and pet him until he stopped crabbing. Once he stopped, I would pet him a bit more and remove my hand. This way he doesn't think crabbing always means getting his way, and he also understands that my petting him while he's in his pouch isn't the end of the world. I see this post is a month old so I hope you've had more success in your endeavors.

Thank you for commenting back. I am making a little progress with the male but at the same time he's more interested in exploring the room than getting to know me. And she is just plain terrified of me. I offered her my fist tonight and she locked between my fingers and then wanted nothing more than to find my fingertips and bite them. I feel like I'm doing this all wrong

I just got mine about a week ago but mine are older then they're supposed to be. Don't get discouraged. It's reach in their cage and pet them while they eat their treats. Socialize with them every moment you can. The bonding process can be fun and frustrating at times but everything will be alright. XD
