They were acting normal!

 They were acting normal!

I recently adopted two male sugar gliders from a lady two towns away. I have had them for a little less than a week. Every morning I replace the shirt in their cage with the one I wore that night. The lady I got them from told me they get up at 10pm and go to sleep at about 8am. They did this for about three days! I recently bought a banana hammock for them, and they slept in in the first time last night. I noticed that very little food was eaten(they eat like crazy before this), they made no noise(I am a deep sleeper, but I normally wake up to the bells they are playing with), and when I woke up, they were still asleep. They were up for about an hour, and Kit tried to use the bathroom(seemed to struggle), they ate some food, and have fallen back asleep. Let me note that they are still asleep and it is 11:58pm right now.

I so not see where you are from, but it is a change of season wherever you may be. Mine seem to 'feel' these seasonal changes. Some more than others, but it doesn't cause any problems. Even on a regular basis my babies will PARTY for a few days strait and then be quiet and not eat much for a night or so; then they will have a pretty average week...etc. I have learned to stop timing their sleep patterns; for MY benefit. I am a person of structure and prefer times to stay the same for things in my life, but gliders don't keep much structure other than DARK(outside)=EAT more/ PLAY more and LIGHT(outside)=cuddle/treats. No specific timing that sticks for a long time though :o)

also on nights with no playroom, my gliders wake about midnight to 1 am, sometimes one is up at 10 pm. feed them a good diet, give them time to adjust to new family. I would give them a nice pouch to sleep in, ours like the pouches more then the hammocks.

give them as many things to do as possible, ropes toys WHEELS!!, and worry less about sleep times, mine sleep crazy hours but will wake early for time in the playroom, then at 1am after playroom and back in cage they go back to sleep for awhile. play and then sleep and then play is I THINK normal.
